Same, instead of having a benchmark I choose to only power up when I get a decent reward for doing so. I usually throw away x10 energy tasks but when we were getting x70 it was well worth it especially as I waited for Absol energy to enter tasks. My favourite tasks are the x3,x5,x7 power up for a starter as I get a chance at a perfect and a good reason to power up.

12:50 Spending 5 million dust for 20 level 50 pokemon isn't that bad because by the time you will get the XLs to power up another pokemon of the same kind (like another Zekrom), you could easily get that 5 million dust back, given that we get 3X catch stardust community day once every season. However, I know this season's GBL stardust is just busted, for some reason the stardust gain for me personally isn't that high anymore and I am doing at least 3 sets a day (as always) ever since week 1 of the season. Also, I feel that it is a wrong analogy to say that spending stardust is the same as wasting it, instead you are actually investing in these pokemon. What is the point of having 100 million stardust and having your pokemon collection max at level 25? Isn't it better to have a team of 6 of all offensive types (for raids) at level 40 or 35 and then start saving the dust?

Im in 23 millions Stardust, 58 lvl50 pkms 18 of them beeing shadow. Still, lots of lvl40 to master classic and lost of ultra and great league pkms. Spent more than what I have. Ive been standing between 20-25 millions Stardust for quite a while. Cant say im going to increase much couse, there are lots of pkm to maxout. Btw, slaking lvl50 will probably stay in the top of my bag for a long time.

I totally disagree with your "save your stardust theory" it without a doubt holds you back as a trainer and serves absolutely no beneficial purpose. Don't waste dust powering useless pokemon, that's smart advice but your stardust bank is not an interest yielding account there's no 5% return on what you've saved annually. There is zero benefit in saving it, it makes you use weaker pokemon in raids and gym battles needlessly. My top 3 are a level 50 kyogre, level 50 dialga and level 50 garchomp, they were powered to level 50 the moment I had the candy XL to do so. By waiting until I was at some predetermined stardust level to power them up all I'd do is make me use weak pokemon for no reason other than I chose to save to a random level before hand.

@Joseph C. That's why I say don't power up useless pokemon but meta relevant counters are meta relevant counters. What's good for countering Mewtwo today will be relevant for any future Psychic type that comes in the future. What was good for countering Groudon 2 weeks ago will be relevant for any future ground types. Powering a wobbuffet up to level 50... that's just a waste of dust... it's not relevant and never will be.

It may be cheaper, but chances are your not throwing those Hundo’s away. So now you have a cheap lucky you use and a trophy Hundo that just sits in your bag. Power the Hundo - feel good using it.

Hey! You might be right for many but I don't agree with saving stardust and hitting those benchmarks. I am a pvp player and I started playing this game during covid. I personally approach this game by building one pokemon every time a new cup or league is announced. For ex- I built XL lickitung this retro cup. I will build mewtwo for master classics next time or a mewtwo for ultra league. Just so the fun and grind is balanced.

I just wanna hit 3 million dust but can't seem to do it without *needing* to power up things for raiding. During groudon, I spent over 600k dust to max my shiny 15/14/15 Swampert, and level 40 two other 15/14/15 swamperts so we could shortman the raids. I was over 2.5 million for a moment but during the cranidos raids I had to power up pokemon for a lot of the research, so I was powering up lucky and non lucky Deino's, which I was hesitant about initially but now Im glad because it's move makes it the highest non shadow, non mega dps for dark types. Unfortunately I already had a level 40 15/5/14 hydreigon beforehand so that cant get the move. Having restraint in this game is kinda hard when the community died during covid and theres nobody non remote to raid with.

As a new player you should not realy aim for a high benchmark for stardust. Dont be afraid to power up your mons for raid there is no point in keeping stardust. Billy has played for years and he has alot of good iv raid counters already. Thats why he is now saving for future raid mons.

Actually it can make the difference if you have more than one! Brandontan have a video raiding the same umbreon raid with 3 shadow lvl 50 machamp, and then 3 shadow lvl 40 machamp. It took all of the 3 lvl 40 machamps for a 127s raid, and only 2 lvl 50 machamps for 123s raid. The time difference is not relevant, but a hole pokemon of difference mean more time in battle and reviving less, speccially if you try to solo or duo the hardest raids out there. Of course, the reward is not worth the abussive amount of resources that take to power up a lvl 50 pokemon for most players, but if you do, the difference is there!

Yes, you just send gifts to each other until you get the guaranteed lucky trade status. After you trade, it again becomes regular trades and you have to keep send each other gifts until you get the status again. If it is a regular pokemon that does not require special trade then you can simply trade back to back until you get a lucky. You need to really have a very bad luck if you don't get a single lucky from trading 40 of the same species back to back (13 % chance of this happening). The chance of not getting any lucky from 100 back to back trade is roughly 0.5%.
