My loc's have that same appearance due to the thickness it looks like I have wayyyy more but it's only 68. We also have layers, giving off that layered effect. I'm glad you chose loc's, girllll fasten your seat belt they're about to take off!

I've been loc'd for about 16 mos. Can you help me understand the reason for counting locs? I have yet to count mine!

For some people who aren't sure how many locs to start off with or the loc size (small, medium or large), counting locs sometimes help give a general idea or range of how many locs to strive for. Of course still keeping in account the individual's hair density, texture and health and whether you find similarities in your own hair to compare with. I originally started off with 96 meduim size starter locs, but then I realized for the flexibility that I wanted with my hair, I needed to go smaller and increase my number. So I ended up with 160 locs in the end. Counting locs isn't a must, but sometimes it can be helpful just to know.
