How many miles are too many on a Scrambler Ducati

Over the past 8 years, this little pony has been ridden hard and put up wet more times than I can count. After I put well over 40k miles on it, I started thinking it might be time to retire it. I thought it was time to get a "real" adventure bike and park the scrambler or (gasp) I even considered selling it.
After settling on a new Vstrom 650, I was thwarted immediately. Absolutely NONE were available in the 2021 Champion yellow paint scheme/setup I wanted and only the 22 models were able to be ordered. Believe me, I searched far and wide for one and had dealers hunting all over the east coast for me!
What I DIDN'T consider, or expect I would do, was what happened next.
On a whim (and out of frustration), I gave up my dream of buying a "real" adventure bike and decided to completely upgrade the suspension and add adventure mods (which should have been done years ago). Sure, I spent as much money as I could have on a new bike (or at least half as much depending on the bike), but with another mount I wouldn't have had my trusty companion to share my future adventures. I know it so well and it's served me so faithfully, it just seemed wrong to sideline it without giving it the opportunity to adventure with some much needed upgrades (Lord knows I've asked more than I should from a bone stock scrambler!)
So now that it just turned 50k miles on the ODO, I thought it was only fitting we did a little recap of some of the highlights of our years together.
How many miles can you get on a Scrambler Ducati? As many as you possibly can!! I certainly hope to get at least another 50k more!

Wow... very cool stories and amazing adventures. I test road the Ducati Scrambler 1100, I really like the look, but I just did not click with it. I wound up with a Triumph Scrambler 1200, super cool bike. Anyway, no way I could keep a bike that long. I have had 6 bikes in the last 5 years, still have two of them, but one is got to go to make room for the next new one. I think I have a broken brain, I regret selling everyone one of them, but I get bored so easily. I wish I could be like you guys, but its just not in my dna... I need change. Great stories, I envy the drive you have to just get on the bike and ride on such long trips. One day we need to ride together, it looks like your guys always have a blast.

Ha ha, I just love that you turn over bikes so I can ride along on your videos and hear your reviews!! Funny thing about bikes.... it seems we can never have enough of them. Your pattern of buying, selling, regretting is exactly the same for guitar players. In that world it's called GAS... gear acquisition syndrome. 😄

HAHAH, I know.... they released the DS the following year after I got the 1st gen icon and I've had envy from the start. I've already figured on DS in my future. Once my little icon has to be retired, then it's ON!!
