I agree if you are going to buy a plug-in hybrid or EV you should really invest in a level 2 charger at home if you have a garage. Always use a qualified electrician, 240volts has a stronger bite than your normal home electricity.

You, Sir, are the man! Literally nobody else has been willing to face this number! It doesn't beat the 2.0 for gas only driving, but that misses the great design advantage of this system. This is the one vehicle anywhere you can daily drive for almost free but still instantly drive rock-to-rock or coast-to-coast, which is awesome!

The 4xe was made for me. Retired and make one or two in town trips a day. Even with 2 trips I don't deplete the battery. I plug my 4xe in when I get home and unplug it 12 plus hours later; ready for my next days trip(s) No level 2 charger needed.

That's pretty much my day too. I'll drive locally, no more than 10 or 15 miles in a day. I like the fact that the 4xe lets me drive anywhere without freaking out about charging it. I'm still looking to buy one, pricing is high, but I've seen used Rubicon 4xe's going for less than $54,000 with 2000 miles on them 👍

Thanks for the video. Don't know if you monitor comments in older videos but here I go anyway. The 370 miles advertised by Jeep is an egregious misstatement of fact. Jeep claims that with one full charge and a full tank that 370 miles can be expected. I have the Rubicon, so maybe it's different because of gearing, but there is no possible way this vehicle is going 370 miles on a tank and one charge. It's a lie. I have a 2024 Rubicon X and I'm getting under 17 mpg on gas, and it gets really bad ... like 14 mpg when I drive 70 mpg (which is the posted speed limit on the freeway I frequently drive on). To get 370 miles on a tank, the jeep would have to average 22 mpg for the entire tank once the battery tapped out. I hope that some lawyer sues Jeep for such a bogus claim

Thanks Brandon for your honest reviews and testing. You're always the first to do these kinds of tests. Others just learn and copy you later. I sure wish the 4xe had at least 80 miles range si I could use it on my daily commute too, but 20 miles is hardly enough to justify its higher price. At least there's still the $7500 tax break to bring the price down a little, but it's just not enough as gas prices WILL go up higher and higher. Hopefully the next 4Xe will be fully electric not a weak hybrid.

This is interesting - we have a 2020 Pacifica Hybrid that we really like so I have been interested in maybe getting a 4xe and have been watching your channel. Driving the PacHy with a depleted battery still allows it to get a decent battery range, sometimes even almost half of the day’s total driving (obviously more around-town speeds and not highway). 17 e miles out of 275 total is crazy! I assume you probably plug it up like us though, at least 3-4x week. We have about 7k miles and I would guess ~5k are battery only?

If I understand what you did here, you were checking for mileage while running in hybrid mode and were getting mpg somewhat like you would be getting if you just had a gasoline only Jeep. My original thought when I heard about this vehicle with a weight of some 500 lbs more than the standard gasoline model was that that weight would likely offset the gains when running in hybrid mode. The only advantage of this e model was if you run a lot of short trip in your everyday life where you can use the electric only mode. Am I getting the gist of your reporting here.

Absolutely it’s not for the road warrior that puts 100+ miles a day. It’s for the short trips and regular everyday driving.
@davidcarrico3385
@davidcarrico3385 3 жыл бұрын
You’re missing one big advantage regardless of whether you charge a lot or not, and that is the 375hp and 470 lb torque which is much better than the gas engines other than the 392. You might think that goes down to 2.0 turbo numbers when you run out of battery but not really, as the vehicle keeps about 15% in reserve and it keeps it at that through regenerative braking and engine charging so it is virtually always able to provide the boosted hp and torque. I am sure if you tried to get a point where it couldn’t tap into that you could, but you would have to try. In normal operation it should be able to provide.

Brandon, I greatly enjoy your videos on the new Jeep Wrangler 4XE. Here is something I am very curious about, and I would love for you to make a video about this. If I knew the answer I would not be writing a comment, but with the 4XE being so new, I don't know anyone who has one. None of the dealers close to me have any.................but it is my understanding that when you open or even crack the hood, that the engine will automatically turn on. If the hood is cracked / open and the engine is idling is it charging the batteries ? ( being that the Jeep is NOT moving, but yet the engine is idling, my thinking is if a person is in a parking lot waiting on someone while they are shopping, or at a doctors office parking lot, and they are just sitting in there Jeep 4XE, why not crack the hood and let the engine idle to recharge the batteries while sitting waiting on there wife/friend/husband, etc. (providing of course is there is NOT a charging station near by)

Would there be any difference in E-Save mode?
@ViaticalGenie4
@ViaticalGenie4 Жыл бұрын
Yes. E-save has 2 separate modes also. 1 let's the engine recharge the system and uses the engine to recharge the battery while the other doesn't focus on recharging. So e-save with the recharge mode with end up using more fuel as its more work on the engine.
@ViaticalGenie4
@ViaticalGenie4 Жыл бұрын
The 2nd mode woukd be as if you were just running the engine and only uses the regen braking to recharge the battery while not constantly using the electric. But no matter what mode you're in if you push the pedal down it will always use both engine and electric motor
