Cap, this episode felt so dead... normally they are a lot more alive and talkative (by making jokes). Maybe its the odd combination of people for the first time that equates to such a dry show or its that "contract" that needed to be signed due to Jesse. I truly believe that you're lying.

So Michael was playing a Day-Night deck with about a million different graveyard triggers and Jesse was playing a storm focused deck where every spell played triggers a million different things. I'd be more amazed if things DIDN'T go wrong. I can't really be too critical though. There was a lot going on, especially in those final turns. Jesse in particular was looking like she was getting self conscious about how long her turn was taking which coaxed her to rush, and the best way to misplay an open-ended combo and/or storm deck is to rush.

I always love episodes with Jesse! Really enjoyed seeing her play this format. Serious props to the editor of this video, as well! Keeping track of all the misplays, actual life totals, ongoing Storm count, and floating mana would be hard enough in a normal video, but with the amount of accidental errors in this game, it's even more impressive. It really went a long way to making what was frankly an extremely overwhelming endgame somewhat comprehensible. The other info blurbs were also great and appreciated as well! I completely understand if they are too time consuming to add regularly to every episode, but it would be really cool they started becoming more commonplace.

This has absolutely been my favourite episode of Shuffle Up and Play. The little info tid bits were so funny and some of them like the dramatic irony one were so clever and tongue in cheek. I properly belly laughed at the post game interviews when the Professor just had his head in his hand while Jesse talks real nonchalantly about how the partnership was temporary. Please do more misplay episodes, it would be such a shame for your hard work to go to waste and I think a lot of us enjoy this show for the real time, authentic banter too. 23:44 "Day and night is checked at every upkeep... but triggers relating to it changing go onto the stack during the draw step" Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm acktually, according to CR726.2, day and night is checked during the untap step. The triggers related to it changing go onto the stack during the next time players would have priority, which is at the beginning of the next upkeep. CR726.2. As the second part of the untap step, the game checks the previous turn to see if the game's day/night designation should change. See rule 502, "Untap Step." There's some irony in the misplay episode's editor's notes getting things wrong. :-) Love the episode!

Late to the party, but Jesse did in fact have enough to pay 3 mana for the Commander Sphere. She starts off paying 1R for Reckless Impulse, which generates a R and exiles Grinning Ingus and Kyurk. At this point, she has 8 mountains untapped. She then pays 3 red from lands to play Grinning Ingus, leaving RR in the pool. After this point, there seems to be a cut where the lands have been rearranged, but she has an additional 5 tapped lands and 3 open lands when she plays Kyurk, which fits paying the 2 from lands. At this point she would have RRR in her pool. I think at this point in the video, she intends to untap one of the tapped lands to use mana in the pool but it ends up being tapped. Either way, she would have a total of 6 mana available - 3 from lands and 3 floating R - which is enough to activate her artifact and cast Commander Sphere with 1 open land and R in the pool when all is said and done. That means she has enough to follow through with the rest. And even in the situation that was brought up in the video when she tries to cast Seething Song, she can use one of the floating RR mana to return Grinning Ignus to get the mana to cast it. So, it's a little messy and the mana wasn't technically accounted for correctly, but she does have enough to do what she needed to do. That was such a chore to keep track of though xD Good job!

23:44 Re: Day/Night. The caption incorrectly says that Day/Night switches at upkeep and the triggers get put on the stack during the draw phase. The ruling 726.2 says that "As the second part of the untap step, the game checks the previous turn to see if the game’s day/night designation should change." The switch happens as part of the untap step and effects that trigger from the change will resolve at the start of the upkeep.

23:45 I double checked (I have a *lot* of time with day/night on arena) and from 726.2 the check happens during the untap step, which implies triggers would happen during upkeep CR 726.2 As the second part of the untap step, the game checks the previous turn to see if the game’s day/night designation should change. See rule 502, “Untap Step.”
