@@littlebitofhope1489 it’s not, but getting certs doesn’t guarantee a job. You have to network, and adequate work experience helps, not particularly in Salesforce. I was a contract officer for nearly 20 years before I became a Salesforce consultant…I’m sure the contract experience helped me get the job more so than the certs but the certs opened up the door.

All the Salesforce jobs I'm seeing are asking for 1 of (sometimes all) 4 certifications after the admin cert: - CPQ Specialist - Sales Cloud Consultant - Service Cloud Consultant - Advanced Admin Is the platform app builder cert that you recommend just a filler to make the resume look good with many certifications?

Hey David! Great video as always. I wanted to ask, what is your recommendation for pre-work/exercises in learning before going into Platform Developer 1? I found myself lacking in a lot of aspects when attempting the modules on trailhead. It's a field I have very little experience in but do want to learn.
@dvdkliu3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Admin cert mainly for an intro to Salesforce. Trailhead assumes you have existing programming experience so it's not the best starting point. Of course I'm gonna plug my Apex Academy because it actually starts at 0! Bit.ly/go-apex

Hi David, I have a specific questions please: I'm looking to get into both Salesforce certifications and Programming as a complete newbie to both; what would your recommendations be as to how I should plan to do both at the same time all the while doing them in awhile that complements and builds on each other to be more efficient? Thank you so much in advance JS
@kazykamakaze131 Жыл бұрын
Technical Architect here. Get Admin cert first as all admins also do config as well, then do platform dev 1 then get JS dev as you will be mainly working in LWC most of the time building custom components. After that is specializing.

Hey, I saw your video and I am truly inspired to have a path for the certifications required to be a well rounded Salesforce Developer. I am currently learning to get the Administrator Certification but I have had a very deep inner feeling that I may need to get a few more so I can become much more marketable. I would definitely like to the get the other 4 but I am not too sure how to go about it or know what programs that offers the right level of training so I can pass those certs. I recently graduated with a cert in software engineering learning Java and JavaScript so this shouldn't be as hard with that level of foundation. I am currently unemployed so I am going to need some type of scholarship to get these other certs. Please reach out to me by email if you can. I am open to learn whatever I need to know I can become as marketable as possible.

Sir I really appreciate your videos but I am changing my field in covid time from tourism to developer.. my question is if it's hard for beginners like me to do that and choosing sale developer programme is the right choice
@kamgatchassa3 жыл бұрын
Vanu, I will go on a limb here and give my opinion since I am on a similar path as yours. I got my Admin Certification last month and I'm currently studying for the Platform App Developer Cert. Whenever I'm procrastinating, I check on LinkdedIn for jobs and see that there is demand. That helps me get back to studying. Personally, my goal is just to get my foot in the door and work my way up from there while gathering both experience and certs. My current job is not where I would like to be, and I have used videos like this one to realize I can do something about my future. Is it 100% certain? Definitely not. No one knows the future. But the more I play around trailhead, take courses, and just study the platform seriously, the more I feel my confidence rising. I have seen many, many people share their stories of how they got into the industry and although it would be easier for me to take the Admin path, I chose the developer path because it's a little more challenging. So, no one will know what the right choice is. You just have to pick a path and do your best. I think once you get the first certification, you'll have more confidence to start looking for work AND studying for your next certification. The fact that you're watching David shows you're on the right path. Just keep going and good luck on your journey! I wish you the very best.

You will still need certs with your degree. I don't think you'll be competitive or learn quickly enough if you are focusing on multiple technologies. Also, I you can't specialize in Apex only, you'll need to do front end as well.
