The P is supposed to be 3 choose 2, not 4 choose 2 because the I was 7 choose 4 thus you need to subtract 4 from 7 which yields 3

3:45 "I've got FOUR remaining spots..." should be THREE Very unfortunate mistake since, besides giving the wrong solution, means we miss out on seeing the crucial pattern: (11 choose 4) * (7 choose 4) * (3 choose 2) * (1 choose 1) note that the first operand (11 -> 7 -> 3 -> 1) is decreasing by the amount of the second operand (4 -> 4 -> 2 -> 1)

You are correct. This is actually an explanation of the multinomial coefficient. See Wikipedia for details.

For the fact that you noticed the mistake means you're paying attention. Keep it up!

There is about her way of thinking Intuitively we have 11 reordering problem so its 11! BUT it’s not unique numbers there is repeating because we don’t care about order S’es I’es P’es we can just divide 11!/(4!*4!*2!) Because there is 4! Times LESS combinations because if we rearrange S’es we get the same thing. The same for P’es. And P’es we can rearrange 2!=2 so because of that we have to divide by each of them and we get 11! divided by 4! , 4! and 2! That’s equal to 11!/(4!*4!*2!)

Is you started from say P. So it's 11 choose 2. Will it yield similar result?

My expression is 11!/(4!*4!*2!*1!). is it right?
@Jimmy-wh1fd6 жыл бұрын
it seems that your expression has one more 2! in the denominator.
