thankyou now I know how much wood i need in my target

Glue them together, clamp till dry, then put them up against something that won't move when hit. Then see what happens.

Keep in mind .22lr has no metal jacket and the lead mushrooms before it can peirce more. .22 is capable of going further but needs the projectiles to be stronger.
@angels39264 жыл бұрын
at what distance you shot these 2x4?
@Wes61 Жыл бұрын
I think the bullet lost velocity when the wood moved. I'm curious if it will go further if the wood is "fixed" by being bolted down or using a vice.
@socksonfeet81254 жыл бұрын
You didnt state the most important part, at what distance where you shooting from?
@mrwayne5158 Жыл бұрын
He didn't state if they were Hollow points or what distance he was at. Most likely he wasn't far enough to make a differance between close shots though.
@mikem.20787 ай бұрын
How far into the second piece did it go in? Most of the way, or close to the front? That could be important.

With my diana model 34 classic .22 air rifle shooting jsb domed 15.89 grain lead pellets with about 15 foot pounds of energy it will almost penetrate through 1 of the 24 pine wood boards as long as it don't hit a knot but it won't penetrate all the way through and lodge in another behind it but it will penetrate through a 3/4 of an inch thick pine wood board as long as it don't hit a knot and lodge in one behind it

I think 3" of hardwood is really good for that round. Plus, I bet the hyper velocity rounds will punch through the second one. Under no circumstance do I think a .22 could go through more than 6" though.
@jima3129 Жыл бұрын
I think the species would matter somewhat. No 2x4 is classified as a hardwood. I would think that Douglas Fir would stop better than SYP for sure. How dry would matter also, to some degree.

I think it also depends on the gun being used. My pump action 22 has went though a salt treated 4x4 post at a range of 20 feet. You could see day light though the 4x4.

would have been more effective if there were spaces between the 2x4's as per the video on demo ranch
@indalcecio2 жыл бұрын
Maybe, maybe not. There's a LOT of variables here. For example, think about this: do you think you could swing an axe and embed it into a 2x4? Of course, right? What if that 2x4 were resting on an air mattress? What if the 2x4 were resting on a table unsecured by anything? Those types of variables make a huge difference. A small piece of 2 x 4 simply resting on a table will move, which absorbs a lot of energy, while a heavy longer piece won't move as much and the bullet may penetrate deeper. A piece nailed to a solid bench will move even less, and thus probably penetrate even more.

here's a suggestion for fit kitchen body armor take denim layers glued together with liquid nails x3 sandwiched by two porcelain plates with steel roof flashing and Styrofoam on the inside of plate that goes towards your chest wrap the plates together with duck tape I would do it my self and shoot it but I don't have anyplace around here with a outside shooting range near me I'm 💩 out of luck on shooting outside.
