The ban of cigarette advertisements even benefited marlboro overall, because they wouldn't have any marketing competition thus solidifying their position on the market even further. Even younger generations today know about the Marlboro man without actually seeing the advertisements. Nicely done video btw, maybe i would recommend making it longer, because there's a lot of interesting facts in these topics (history and marketing-wise)

Yeah I always found it interesting how cigarette company's are barred from advertising hence they don't have to but still make a fortune off the product I guess they already had the addicted buyers that then might have got others around them addicted and so on but people still take up the habit in general crazy seeing as we hear how harmful they are here Australia the packaging is all in a bland ovile green kind of colour with bold printing of the brand variant so they can't advertise on the packet itself they also cost a fortune but so far I'm tobav/nicotine free since January smoking is highly addictive if you don't smoke please don't start and if you do please try and cut down eventually you will be free of the smokers cough and nasty price tag and many other dangers that come with smoking have a good one people stay safe

0:50 "In the 1920s Congress proposed a bill that would ban women from smoking in public...." THAT'S MISLEADING AND NOT COMPLETELY TRUE. Basic and quick research on the Sullivan Ordinance finds this bit on wikipedia: The Sullivan Ordinance was a municipal law passed on January 21, 1908, in New York City by the board of aldermen, barring the management of a public place from allowing women to smoke within their venue.[1] The ordinance did not bar women from smoking in general nor did the ordinance bar women from smoking in public, only public places. Right after the ordinance was enacted, on January 22, Katie Mulcahey, the only person cited for breaking this ordinance, was fined $5 for smoking in public and arrested for refusing to pay the fine; however, the ordinance itself did not mention fines nor does it ban women from smoking in public. She was released the next day.[2] The mayor at the time, George B. McClellan Jr., vetoed the ordinance two weeks later So it was in 1908, not during the 1920s. It wasn't US congress that passed the law but rather New York City board of alderman. It's wasn't a ban for smoking in public, only public places. Seems this YT creator either didn't do his research right or is deliberately misleading.

Glad you liked it! To answer ur question, I think all the unregulated fruity flavors on the market intrigue young kids/adults alike. It's supposedly "better" than cigs as well, although that's far from being proven long-term.

@@Vitorruy1 better in what sense? I'm a former smoker and most of my friends still smoke. Those that don't, vape. Those that vape seem far more hooked than those that smoke regular cigs. It's probably the freedom of being able to vape virtually anywhere that makes it so hard to quit. Vaping "may" be better than cigarettes but getting off ALL nicotine is and should be the goal. You'll feel sooo much better, I can't even put into words just how much better you'll feel. Another thing- those I know that vape actually take in MORE chemicals throughout the day as they're constantly pulling off their vape. This is probably what negates this whole vaping is better than cigs debate.

@@bluemamba5317 you gotta eat and drink to survive I'm not saying Coca cola or McDonald's is not harmful but you don't need to smoke tobacco to survive and I can't compare soft drinks and burgers to cigarettes there is a massive difference in the dangers between them maybe that's just my opinion I guess it's like saying you can get a sugar free cola and a salad at McDonald's and comparing that to getting a lower strength packet of cigarettes? @@davemustaki134 Yeah, I get it, not quite the same. Yet I don't think barely any big cooperation cares about people's well-being. They will use every tool they have to make more money. Take Amazon for example, they have terrible conditions for their employees. And uses their huge scale of operation to outcompete the rest of the competition one by one. Also, lobbying to shape our laws to benefit themselves at the cost of ordinary people. Still, I use them and can see the benefits in prices etc. At least in short term. I'm from the UK & went to Germany on holiday in September 2022 & couldn't believe my luck when i came across a cigarette machine that sold a x40 pack of Marlboro Red's...for less than €10.00!!! I've never heard of a 40 pack of cigarettes before in my life (in Britain I've only ever seen a 20 pack) but a x20 pack of Marlboro Red's costs £13-£15 in the UK. Originally Cigarette ads were supposed to end on December 31, 1970, but the cigarette manufacturers were able to get a one day extension on the deadline. They all were major sponsors of the New Year’s Day bowl games back then. Because it was the last day, just about every ad that ran on those college football games that day (or any other program) was for a cigarette.
