You have great content, man. I love the depth of how you relate advanced concepts to video games. I feel like football is exceptionally misunderstood because games like Madden try too hard to simplify the play design in the playcall menus. Questions: Who do you personally user in make-or-break situations when running Quarters/Palms? Is it the field-side or back-side specific? Is it possible to send a 5-man blitz and still run this coverage?

Just looking at this as if I were playing u. I would’ve checked into a run. Make u have to stop it by using hurry up and mix it up with Play action. I know concepts but I have trouble sometimes read left to right and vice versa.

I know this is for Madden but I'm studying ya content to see if it matches in CFB 25 lol. Giving me a better perspective of what I need to do in matching plays I run as well as reading matching defenses on offense. Respect.

14:47 I’d rather the QF to the trips align head up in stubbie, simply because if you run 2 and 3 vertical a seam to 2 is wide open for an inside lead
@XandoFootball Жыл бұрын
Arches would torch it too. From my understanding, teams like stubbie with the corner outside when they are dealing with a lot of rpo stuff with 3 going out. I think with the nickel head up like that, the receiver could have an easier time sealing him off so the 3 could get outside on an rpo. Might be harder to keep outside arm free for corner. They also like playing stubbie with the 3 and 2 are aligned close together . . . which screams switch releases . . . .so keeping him outside of the 2, he'd be in better position to take the out from 2 or 3. You're right though . . . A way to attack stubbie would be to send 3 deep to take the safety on like a post, and have your 2 go deep leaning inside . . . having inside leverage. A way a defense can deal with that is to play a coverage I read about called :Seahawk: . I think Pruitt calls it Posse. Where the 3 rec is now capped. 3 rec takes 3 vertical with inside leverage trail. Your nickel corner, who is outside leverage, would take two vertical . . . . but he'd play with outside leverage. Biggest key is the frontside safety. He would midpoint 3 and 2 deep. So now when you try to throw that inside deep throw to 2 deep because the nickel corner is outside leverage . . . your safety pounces on it. In essence, Seahawk could play like stubbie when you get that rpo stuff, or 3 out . . . .but then, if they send 3 and 2 deep, it turns into 2 man, with your number 2 outside leverage funneling him to inside help. Cat and mouse game.

Nevermind . . . Pruitt doesn't call it posse. Posse is something else. I don't remember what he calls the coverage I spoke of.

Off topic but this conversation here has me looking forward to Pounder breakdown again. But I started using it last season in my league to kind of apex 2-3 quick verts and had a ton of pics from safety on the snap throw guys.
@XandoFootball Жыл бұрын
Nice. I wish Pounder was a standard play we could just call in madden instead of adjusting for it.@@Jdub-tv3ww
@Jdub-tv3ww Жыл бұрын
@@XandoFootball the best thing about it is remembering that it’s a split field, think you said it at the time but don’t need to adjust both sides of the field can just play Pounder one side which makes it a lot easier / quicker to adjust.

Irl how would that corner know that the safety is running off to cover #3 on a streak ALL THE WAY on the otherside of the field. He's too busy focusing on his job and aren't they playing pattern match on his side aswell?
@free55Ай бұрын
IRL - that safety is reading the #3 release using his peripheral vision*. The safety is going to keep his shoulder parallel to the line of scrimmage and move to directly over the Center or the middle of the field. The playcall is either: A - a blanket # coverage call (cover 4/6/7) Or B - a split-field call to either side of the defense (field or right side first + back or left side second) The more advanced the athlete, the more likely it is that they communicate these coverage calls as they are presented in real time as the offense aligns in their formation. This is why in college/NFL games, you'll see plenty of defensive communication in reaction to a motion by the offense. Madden drop zones don't do match coverages justice, because the variability of the route extension would make sense with the amount of field it could potentially cover. I have to explain this to athletes consistently (all the way to collegiate atheletes), so don't feel bad if it's tough to understand. 👌 hope this helps

Amazing video. Still a bit confused about the backside safety in Palms vs Trips. He still seems to be taking off to the frontside a lot of the time for me. Is that route dependent or something I can adjust? So far I've been changing him to a deep 1/2 to make him stay at home.
