Hi team 'Yes Vedanta', I admire your work, I watched this video twice to not only comprend the meaning of different things taught by you but also to remind myself of those, which helps in creating the overall environment of the mind to live as per these teachings. I believe this is called 'satsang' and am sure you must be aware of it and I find this the most sophisticated way of doing it. Thanks for that! You are doing a wonderful job, demystifying the scriptures. I appreciate your efforts and what all you are doing for society. Keep up! I know while I try to learn all this, I will be having questions and curiosity for further clarifications. I will take your help on that

Question: is attachment necessary for the mother - infant bonding to occur? What is the purpose for attachment in this reality?
@YesVedanta3 жыл бұрын
Yes, there also biological order (which too is Ishvara). Biological order can be observed from standpoint of mother-child. That bond is necessary for survival of the offspring during infancy and is inbuilt into all species. So I wouldn't necessarily call this bond an "attachment". Rather an innocent expression of nurturing.

@Dawn West Attachment and dharma must be distinguished. As a mother to take care of child is dharma. If child leaves home and stays away from by own will, mother crying of separation is attachment. I hope you understood.

What you speak of in 45:00 - doesn’t it contradict the illusion of free will. Can you help clarify pls. Thanks 🙏🏽

From "Jīva" (identified with Body-Mind-Intellect) point of view, Free will is real and must be exercised. Telling "Jīva" free-will is apparent (without explaining why), can leads to helpless despair and loss of motivation for any pursuit. EG: Parent doesn't tell a 3 year old that Santa is a fable. It does more damage then good (even if it's true). The 3 year old, eventually figures out on their own through time (as result of knowledge), that Santa is a fable. Thus idea (ghosts, Santa, etc) what was once Real for the child, in course of time dissipates. It's only known directly as "apparent free will" (or illusion of free-will, as you say), from extensive Knowledge of Īṣvara(2). If one is still identified with B-M-I (Body, Mind, Intellect), and says "there's no free will", it's only an intellectual-level thought picked up from Spiritual world. But depth of that statement is lacking. End of day, it has more practical benefits to say "Exercise your free will for Mokṣa", then to philosophize if we really have any. :) It's greatest gift of Īṣvara(2), and humans are privileged to it's utilization. EG: Tiger can't decide to associate with dears, to learn of their grace, while holding back it's appetite for one.

Only free will is existing in higher species but it has some conditions. Your karmic debt or prarabdha karma creates the circumstances but in that situation you have free will to choose between good and bad. According to one book I read on Vedanta philosophy there was analogy of a cow could be in a particular field but it has the free will to eat or not eat. This is free will with conditions. However birth in lower species is called bhog jyoni as the animal cannot create karma but only burns it. This is due to the lack of capacity to intellectual ability to discriminate between dharma (ethical good) and adharma (bad)
