An early family joke about me cut deep. I used to laugh along with other family members when yet again my father would say to me, "You were 17 days late, and never caught up." Although I laughed, this joke damaged me. To me the message in the joke was that I would never be able to amount to anything. I was doomed to be mediocre at best. As a senior , I finally admitted how painful that memory was. At 77, I believe I have healed.
@lynettesetzkorn12056 ай бұрын
I’m so sorry you experienced that, Kathy. So glad to hear that you’ve healed from it. If you get a chance, there’s a book by Lesley Lupe called “Every Breath is Precious,” and in it, she talks about “blindfolded bodhisattvas,” bright, shiny lights dropped into families where they struggle. It takes a lot of time, but they tend to come into their own later in life. Perhaps that’s you… bless you.

And I hadn’t even noticed it had returned until Mike mentioned it in that gallery reading. So very grateful. I know you will find it again. We do not dishonor our loved ones by finding joy again in this life. Mine are always hollering, “it’s just the blink of an eye, human life! Enjoy it! We’ll be together soon enough.” (And when I’m irked by just about all of my dearest ones being there, I’ll occasionally holler back, EASY FOR YOU TO SAY!”) ☺

“ even in the hard times, my soul is rejoicing” ( Lynette’s mom) I love that! I will never forget that! I am five years sober and would love to have a sponsor like you! The people who work with you are so lucky! Just in being who you are, you are such an inspiration! I often wonder why many of us have to go through pain and addiction to get to this awakened place, but like you said where you have the light and love there must also be darkness. I loved listening to this. My heart literally grew in vibration! ❤
@lynettesetzkorn12056 ай бұрын
One of the things I used to hear in meetings went something like this: In the assembly line where souls were put together with human bodies, God was at the very end of the line, and s/he’d put the last stamp of insulation on the new humans. It was just an extra layer of maybe self love, self protection, because human life is hard. Only EVERYone was always asking for God’s input on one thing or another, so s/he’d occasionally get distracted and miss that last bit of protection on some of the babies whizzing by. Those are the people who came to earth, found human life enough of a trial that alcohol or drugs (or food, money, men, shopping, whatever) became a solution. That sensitivity is a gift and it still resides within each one of us. We learn new coping mechanisms ~ get our extra layer of insulation ~ with the practice of the 12 steps and making that connection with higher consciousness. It’s a sweet story. However it might happen, I understand the concept because sober and healed, the formerly addicted are some of the kindest, most compassion, most understanding people I’ve ever met.

Lynnette I have obsessively read , studied and listened vast amounts on grief and “on life after life”, searching for some sanity in the madness of my grief for over a year now . How very few can transmit with such a transparency “ That Grief “ , a grief I can recognised in the depth of my soul , in the privacy of my pain . Your words have resonated with me deeply, a feeling I don’t easily find in the words / teachings/ reading of many awakened people , probably because Love, Grief , Loss and Kindness are words so overused nowadays. You share your story in a spirit and depth of thought that is a teaching by itself . My eternal gratitude .

Last night my mom, who has passed, showed up in an unexplainable unexpected way with a ladybug crawling across the top of my laptop! She likes to send ladybugs to me and I know that she finds great joy in sending them in fun unexpected ways like that. Just before that I was weirdly checking out an old Facebook message between us, so I guess it was her way I responding from spirit!
