I agree. We did it to ourselves. Big Pharma, Sackler family, etc. is basically a legalized drug cartel. They pumped billions of doses of Vicodin and other opiates through hundreds of pill mill pharmacies around the country. The old military veterans at my local VFW were constantly accosted by junkie bar-flies. A lot of them sold 1/2 their prescription just to get by. They didn't need so many pills anyway. Then there was the government crackdown. The supply of legal opiates dried up. A lot of old veterans lost their prescriptions. Heroin was soon filling the supply gap at a lower price than Vicodin pills. I have lived in a small(ish) American town for decades. Never until the vets lost their prescriptions have I ever seen heroin here. Then Fentanyl started getting mixed with it. This story says the cartels figured they could make more money with purely lab-created Fentanyl. I could go on. We did it to ourselves.

El Mayo turned himself in, he originally flew into New Mexico, but was told to fly into an airport in Texas to turn himself in. He had been negotiating with the Feds for years. The cartel has a replacement for him already so while they might of taken a hit by him turning himself in, no real concern from them by him turning himself in. El Mayo had advanced Diabetes so he been coming to the states for years already with the US permission. He most likely worked out a deal with the Feds to be an "informant". The Feds new exactly where in the sierra he was hiding because his other son (El Vicentillo) who currently lives in the states under a different name (with federal protection who was also allowed to keep all of his money and be with his wife and kids) gave them all the coordinates, so why didnt they pick him up? because they were in negotiations. also- this is great timing for the Biden administration to take credit for his "capture".

What about all these big pharmaceutical corporations manufacturing opiates and then overprescribing kids with minor bone fractures or minor issues? They are every bit a part of the drug culture as you call it.
