With it costing that much it is essentially prevents 90% of normal typical Mexican Mexicans from even being able to access and use the highway … because it is equal in average than most Mexicans make per day in salary… what is the point of that or how does that work? If it is a government project then why do Mexicans have to pay for it but the large majority of them can’t even afford to use the roads after they’re built?

Mexico's new corridor DOES NOT intend to compete with Panama. Firstly, there is more than enough demand for several interoceanic routes. But most importantly, Mexico is aiming to industrialize the south of the country with massive industrial parks (which you only get to around 10:50) to transform materials that reach one coast into value added goods shipped on the other side (or by land into the US/Canada).

The main reason for the tren maya. Bunch of dummies think is to for the gringos, it's primarily built to industrialize and transport and more importantly- cheap labour
@dVector1315 күн бұрын
Intentions dont matter, because this corridor will compete with the canal as a nearby mode of goods transportation. Even if there is plenty of demand, this corridor will still get shares that may otherwise have gone to the canal.
It will be the cartel canal. I think we should take canal back and then make it bigger
@FischerNilsA13 күн бұрын
Are you high or something? Of course any method of trans-oceanic goods transport stands in direct competition to one another. Yes, there is enough demand for four channels. That doesnt mean another mass transport option does no impact on existing streams of goods. Are you aware of turkeys channel offering an alternative route beside the dardanelles? Not even finished, but already maxed out for years post-opening. At three times the price of a dardanelle crossing.

The fantastic climate, the natural setting, brisk clean air, fresh food, chocolate, coffee, hiking, rich cultural heritage, incredibly cosmopolitan considering how remote the town is from anywhere, there is a vibrant mix of both indigenous and international youth culture, German, French, Italian, Russian etc. along with several native languages you hear spoken in the main street,... all this with one of the lowest costs of living of any town with comparable attractions. Fierce competition and low English proficiency pose significant risks, potentially costing these multinationals and their clients millions of dollars. If Mexico becomes more of an attractive location than central and southern american migration would likely halt at Mexico instead of going north and then Mexico would attempt to reinforce its own borders at the south so mass migrations would begins to slow down significantly at the central american- mexico border area instead of it slowing down and stopping more north within mexico and southern US. It's a win win solution for that issue too
@FiredAndIced16 күн бұрын
Nope, there are still vulnerabilities that Mexico must solve, and no American intervention (save for a global acquiescence for American interference in squashing fringe militants and drug kingpins) will resolve Mexico's fragmented political structure (federalism, where states have *more power* than central government). If there are no economic successes replicated across the United Mexican States (yes, it's literally called that officially, _Estados Unidos Mexicanos_ ), it's like having an active white-power insurgency in Alabama, whose group ultimately wants only *white people to be in power for the entire world* . A similar insurgent in Mexico will want to be like that, too.

Mexico has long been a sleeping giant for manufacturing. Ford has long had a plant in Sonora Mx. now making Broncos and Mavericks that I see daily being transported on 18-wheeler car haulers on Interstate-19 in southern Arizona. Now Chinese companies have moved into Mexico to get around tariffs. I’m in the furniture industry and Chinese furniture upholstery manufacturer Cheers/Manwah built a plant in Monterrey Mx in 2022. This vertically integrated plant is 1 million sq feet in its first phase with plans to increase to plant to 2.5 million sq feet. It employs over 4 thousand workers and has on site dormitories for employees. Mexico is going to be an economic and manufacturing monster. This rise in prosperity will keep money in the western hemisphere and raise people’s living conditions.

I am Mexican and I must make a clarification about what you mentioned about the GDP per capita of Campeche. It has a high GDP per capita because oil activity represents a large part of its economy (80% of its GDP) and its exports are almost entirely oil-based (90%). This supposed wealth is not reflected in the people or their infrastructure, unless you have a position in the corrupt state-owned company Pemex, you are practically the same as the state of Chiapas. It is worth mentioning that Pemex mostly operates with debt and losses. Due to the great nepotism that exists in the left-wing government of AMLO, who Sheinbaum is only an imitation of him in his government. Not just anyone enters Pemex with large salaries and benefits, only if you have a family member or friend in a union position. They do not allow competition by law. A big problem for my country. The most developed and wealthy state in the country is actually Nuevo León, more specifically Monterrey and its surrounding areas such as San Pedro Garza García and specific areas of Mexico City such as Polanco, Santa Fe, Bosques de las Lomas, etc.

Hear, hear! Words spoken by one of those that yearns for the days when the ideology called Neoliberalism ruled the day, and Mexico was Switzerland. El Financiero (by absolutely no means a lover of neither Lopez Obrador, nor Sheinbaum), 100 days into her Presidency, released its latest poll, showing her approval rating at *78%* , which October and November were 70% and 69%, respectively; see, The People of Mexico approve by nearly 8/10 of how things are being done, even if the Oligarchs, who used to think that the country belonged to _them_ clench their teeth in anger and frustration. Shared prosperity is what’s afoot. AMLO pulled several MILLIONS out of poverty, and it’s not I saying do, it is the World Bank. Even if it causes indigestion to more than one, the grassroots social movement founded by Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador will dominate Mexican politics for decades to come, because it has the legitimacy that only The People (read: the Oligarchy is excluded from the classification) can give it.

It's good to see that the motherland is doing great I'm Mexican-American but I still love the Homeland even though the northern United States which is everything west of the Mississippi used to be all Mexico or Norte Mexico 🇲🇽 as it was once called, but this is still largely disputed due to Spain and France claiming control, before the US annexed it and us by force Tejas or Texas meaning my family was living here when the US came and we still live here.

What they should do is take care of their people. They’re not eating they’re not being closed. They’re running to America causing them to come into United States for work. What is Mexico doing for people show?
