Johnny training with Raiden does sound pretty interesting. The interaction between them would be awesome. We could have seen Johnny being arrogant and egotistical during his time with Raiden but seeing his wise words eventually break into Johnny and speak to him. That would explain why he’s more concerned, understanding and confident in the right ways.

I think the biggest problem with NRS style story modes is the fact the character you control has to win their fight...... If the story mode is centered around one person( like Taven), it's easier to build consistent power levels. But I also realize that this kind of story mode allows multiple characters to have some spotlight, and gives the players a chance to try out more or less half the roster. This issue could be lessened by having villain chapters..... Kano wouldn't be such a joke if he got to beat Sonya, Jin or even some npcs ( I dunno, Li Mei or something)

Keep the chapters, but I think the fight that your character suppose to lose is gonna be harder than the usual fights and there'll be losing cutscene if you lose. But if you can win, you should be able to win the fight but then get washed in the cutscene later, this cutscene is slightly different than the other "losing" cutscene.

In the Johnny Cage portion of the story, I think it would've made sense to use his Ending from MK 9 as the reason, as to why he got stronger in MK X, because he has more control and mastery over his Green Energy from training in the Order Realm.

Their problem is turning Johnny's power into a plot armor that even he cannot wear for the final battle. If Cassie were to beat Shinnok, she should be someone who has prior experience with the power. They could've gone with Cassie had the power at some point and even became proficient in using it, but lost it. After that she was never able to tap into it at will. However, her father kept his powers, and became even stronger than before to a point where he was officially declared by the elder gods as Earthrealm's champion. However he chose to not be one due to his life as an actor and in the military.

Na it was just outright stupid for her to beat him at all! With all the powerful characters in the Mk universe it completely makes no sense in any context for a teenager to win let alone a teenage girl. If any Kombat kid could have beat shinnok it should have been takada who is kenshi kid and trained by scorpion two of the most powerful earth realm kombatants but I think they could have showcased the kids without trying to make them the main point and just use them later. Even if they upgraded off screen it would have made more sense to bring them back older more mature and polished skill in mk11 and beat the big bad together not just Cassie. I say they make you fight the big bad with all 4 Kombat kids and after beating him the Final Cut scene is all of them 4v1 the boss

I do agree with you regarding the Johnny lines and the Cult thing explained before his fight with Shinnok, although I would have mentioned or added in one more scene. That being despite Raiden almost trapping Shinnok, he's still resisting pretty dang well. So to knock him into the Amulet, while Raiden is doing his thing, Johnny gives out one final Shadow Kick to the Elder God's back and sends him straight into the Amulet. More of a team effort sort of thing and I thought that would have been nice. That's me though, interesting commentary.

I honestly like Mortal Kombat X's story, but some issues I have were: - Sareena's unnecessary cameo - Sonya's jerkiness - Quan Chi being weak - Red Dragon barely an importance I don't mind having Cassie, Jacqui, and D'Vorah, and I like seeing Cassie fighting Corrupted Shinnok, but if I'm a writer of MKX, I would make the Red Dragon as the Antagonistic forces. In my opinion, the Red Dragon should be the main enemies to the Special Forces. Takeda and Kenshi were motivated into defeating the Red Dragon, and MKX should've been about that story.

Quick time events are good when done well the best example of this is Asura’s Wraith hands down it makes to feel good and it uses buttons you would use for those attacks in gameplay so it isn’t random and feels like you are controlling it more, that shit is good.

The only things I do not agree with is Shinnok, Shinnok was terrible from beginning to end, from the voice to his character design, I never once bought him or Quan Chi in this game as a threat unlike there Mortal Kombat 4 counterparts who were way more badass. Quan Chi got beat up by everyone in this game, and easily killed by Scorpion, and Shinnok got released only to get his ass kick twice by Johnny Cage and worst of all Cassie Cage. But Great video, I am now about to watch part 2.

Apparently once people start making video games, movies, TV shows, cartoons, anime etc, they lose most of their ability to think logically and probabilistically. Or maybe they didn't have it to begin with. Whatever the case may be, fans are ability to come up with better scenarios, story ideas and explanations than these developers. You're take on how things should have gone in MK X is much more acceptable and sensible than what Neather Realms has come up with. Anyway, you mentioned the graphics being great or good in this game, but I bet to differ on that. Whilst the resolution is good, most of the character models are terribly modeled. MK9 models are much better in my opinion.

Fighters Den is correct. It is canon that Johnny and Sonya trained with Raiden and Fujin. The writers simply didnt want to elaborate on it. However, it was implied at the end of MK9 when Raiden, Johnny and Sonya took Liu Kang's body to the Sky Temple. Raiden had to prepared them for their future battles.

Shinnok had some very iffy dialogue in these scenes. MK4 Shinnok sounds like a badass by comparison as you point out. I think the problem here is that the writing team was trying to give Shinnok a different character to differentiate him from Shao Khan, the villain from the last game, who was portrayed as a bloody and ruthless tyrant who did nothing but impose his rule. Shinnok from MK4 looks like a bloody and ruthless *god*, who would use clouds and supernovas and universe-shattering events to accomplish the same type of tyranny Shao Khan would attempt with his hammer or his armies. That's a lot scarier, and it captures the feeling of doom for what would've happened should Shinnok win better than MKX's story does. I bet there are some really terrifying "what if an evil guy becomes God" short stories out there, and the MK4 Shinnok gives off those vibes. But I think they were concerned about retreading, so they turned Shinnok into a high-class aristocratic villain who has some vague fixation on death and wants to kill the Elder Gods out of revenge. The one earlier in which he explained his philosophy to Raiden was also a bit weird. I think he was trying to say that the Universe is fundamentally flawed and death has the power to correct it, which would have been interesting if explained further. Sure, "remove the light and the shadow grows" sounds deep, and maybe they mean something specific that my brain is too tiny to get, but it's just hard for the player to get a handle on what his motivations are beyond "death turns me on and Imma corrupt your planet and kill the Elder Gods." The events that happened around Shinnok, including the invasions he headed, the deceptions he pulled off and the asses he kicked, ultimately ended up being a lot scarier and cooler than Shinnok himself as a character. However, visually, seeing him give that high-class smirk while the world burned in his hands in his victory animation was cool at least.

Mad Society20294 MK1-Armageddon isn’t completely canon in the new timeline (MK 2011-MK11+MKX Comics) but his halo energy is still used in 2011 even though Raiden says it activates only when someone loved is about to die which seems to be bs (Because of 2011). The storyline was all over the place even though they did some nice fan service I guess (Like with Frost even though she was wasted more then Kenshi). I also find it weird that he was able to defeat Shinnok.

This is just a guess but considering Liu Kang has fought and beaten beings as powerful as Shao Kahn at full strength I'd imagine skill is as big a factor as raw power. Likely that Raiden lacked the power to beat Shinnok but out matched him in skill to the extent he was able to get the win. MK has always been very loose with power scaling so the skill factor is the only way I can make sense of it. It would also make Fire God Liu Kang beating Kronika make some sense. The strength and skill of 2 Kangs combined with the godly power of Raiden, all 3 beings capable of fighting Elder God level opponents at some point in the timelines. Kronika had raw power but so did Liu Kang at that point and he had a potential level of skill that is likely unmatched in the MK universe after the fusion. Kronika never showed any particular skill beyond her time powers and she probably had very little practice actually using those in kombat. After MK 11 the Elder Gods don't seem very threatening anymore. Jax or Jacqui as pure humans were able to match Cetrion while empowered by Shang's souls. Raiden himself once became an Elder God so he's at least got the same potential power as they do but we don't know how that actually works. TLDR: MK lore has more nonsensical power scaling than every anime put together.

BrianStyleDeath that’s not the way it should be, however. All of these characters are on different levels of skill than one another. Shang Tsung should not be having his ass handed to him with ease. The man was clapped by Kung Lao in a 2-on-1 fight with Quan Chi as his teammate. These 2 were at the top of the roster in Deadly Alliance, and they were beaten soundly by Kung Lao? The guy didn’t even look winded taking care of them! They were limping off looking like weak bitches! Kung Lao is strong and all, but Shang Tsung literally has 10,000+ souls worth of power at his disposal, and Quan Chi is stronger than him! Kung Lao should have only been able to fight them to a stalemate, he should not have knocked them on their asses and had them limping away like pansies. Also, there’s another bad fight...Stryker taking down Ermac and Kintaro! Kabal can literally move at light speed, while Stryker only has his weapons and hand to hand combat at his disposal...also, Kabal had much more experience and strength as a character than Stryker...I believe Stryker is strong, but Ermac is literally a ninja made of souls, souls put together in one being from an ENTIRE realm! There’s no way in hell Stryker should have even been able to touch him! Kintaro practically one-shotted Kabal, Who I mention is in a different league than Stryker...who somehow managed to beat the Shokan! This guy is almost as strong as Goro, and yet he lost to Stryker? Many people say that the MK9 story mode is the best, but I digress! There were certainly some huge plot holes in the storyline that could use some fixes. MKX...I’ve already found some fights that shouldn’t even be CLOSE to believable! For example, Sonya Blade should not be able to beat down Quan Chi and Scorpion at the same time, revenant Scorpion or not! Quan Chi was literally the leader of the Netherrealm...Sonya should NOT have even been able to touch him when she got her ass kicked with relative ease by JOHNNY CAGE in MK9. Kano is believable since she whooped his ass in MK9, but she should not be whooping the asses of Main-Event characters like Quan Chi and Scorpion. What else? Johnny Cage fighting off Scorpion and Sub-Zero simultaneously. I personally feel that it was a relatively fallacious idea in general...this guy got his ass whooped so many times in MK9, I could get through a hand! He literally only beat up Jobbers...how are you supposed to have credibility just because you beat Reptile or Baraka? Kano is an embarrassment, Sonya is mere military (and military usually suck shit in fighting games *cough* Guile), and Reptile can’t beat anyone! Even worse...Baraka is literally the SPIKE DUDLEY of the Mortal Kombat Franchise. Sure he put himself over in MK11 with some words, but dude didn’t beat anyone! Anyways, Cage should not have been able to beat those 2 at all. Even if he was trained by gods, 2 years is an insanely short time period. The worlds been around for eons, so already a millennia means nothing! A millennia is a mere second, while 2 years is a nanosecond! You could get a hell of a lot stronger in that short time period, but you have to remember that Scorpion and Sub-Zero were trained by their respective clans since CHILDHOOD! Cage could probably get a few glancing blows, but he is still weak in comparison to the 2 ninjas! Even worse, this guy knocked down Shinnok. You saw how Shinnok was fighting the dude off with one hand! Again, maybe a few glancing blows, but in a realistic one on one fight between them, Shinnok would clap Cage! You also have to remember that despite having the green halo at his disposal, Shinnok is still a fallen Elder God with power to match! Dude was still up 2 seconds later, ready to continue fighting. Cage beating down Jax is believable since Jax was a revenant, but again...he’s still mere military! I know he whooped Cage in MK9, but Cage was an ignorant movie star who couldn’t keep his damn mouth shut! He may have metal arms and all, but at the end of the day...he’s still relatively weak! That’s another plot hole in MK9 right there. Baraka is literally the strongest of the tarkatans, an entire race of ruthless, bloodthirsty savages with metal blades in their arms! He shouldn’t have been able to defeat Baraka, considering that he didn’t even have his cybernetic arms yet! I get that Baraka is literally one of the weakest motherfuckers in the MK franchise but there are some characters in there that that man would slaughter, such as Kira or Kobra, maybe even Dairou or Darrius You can’t forget Li Mei and Tanya either...perhaps Shujinko? (Do NOT take that last name seriously...Shujinko could literally beat ANYONE in the MK Franchise. Him being a suggestion was merely a joke). Anyways, Jax somehow managed to beat Jade, an assassin with 10,000 years of training, something that can beat out Cage’s mere 2 years of training! Power scaling was just all over the place, which in my opinion makes the story modes of MK9 and MKX relatively chaotic if you tie them together into one. You have to remember that Cage got beat by pretty much anyone who wasn’t Baraka, Reptile, Kano or Sonya! In MKX, he ends up beating Jax, who beat Jade, who would easily defeat Cage for Kitana easily beat Cage in a 2-on-1 fight with Smoke! I truly don’t get it...they have some SHITTY writing for some of these fighting game story modes. Anyways, Jax managed to one shot Quan Chi, who again was the leader of the Netherrealm. This guy was just batting away fireballs from Liu Kang, who managed to beat Shang Tsung...that’s another MK9 problem to jump to! Liu Kang is insanely strong, but I feel he beat Shang Tsung too easily! I understand that the guy was old, but again...10,000+ souls at his disposal! Then the man was brought back to his prime and still lost to Kung Lao with Quan Chi as his partner, which leaves a question...who was stronger in MK9? Liu Kang or Kung Lao? We never really got to find out since Shao Kahn snuck up behind Lao and snapped his neck, which severely enraged me! I feel that people just started dissing Kung Lao at that point. So many people are always on about Liu Kang and how he’s the chosen one, but don’t ever say shit about Kung Lao and his feats! He could do practically anything Liu Kang could...I don’t think ANYONE remembers that in the original timeline, Liu was killed by Quan Chi and Shang Tsung...I get that that was still a 2 on one fight, but how did he die at their hands if Lao bested the both of them in a 2 on one fight in the new timeline? Anyways, back to Jax. This man was killed by Sindel, but managed to beat her. I remember that she was being powered by Shang Tsung when she did kill Jax, but how is it that he’s able to beat her? She was still the queen of Edenia, which means she had to have been insanely strong regardless to earn her place! So even as a revenant, she still should have clapped Jax. Sindel was another huge problem in the new timeline...that was just disappointing! I don’t know why they made her a bad guy! That was an insipid move by NRS! She was much better in the original timeline. If she had just stayed a good guy and had someone like...I don’t know, Daegon take her place and kill everyone? The man was a Demi god just like Taven, you know. He could have killed off nearly the entire good guy cast on his own as well! Anyways, if someone else had taken her place, the story could have been much more desirable than it was. There is much more character error that needs to be corrected, but I’m gonna end up causing You Tube to crash at this rate if I say anymore...
