I want the combat of Sunbreak and the ecology of Iceborne and most importantly, being on all platforms to be what MH6 will be

while I agree on the combat and ecology, being on all platforms including Nintendo would force MH6 to be less graphically intense and have smaller maps than iceborne, which is one of the things iceborne is known and liked for.

Personally on the combat front, I’d like them to balance it more. I mean some of the weapons have the same charm they’ve always had but some (long sword) feel like you’re playing as Virgil in dmc5 and veer too far into, the monster is now just a punching bag. I mean you have faster damage that switch axe and dual blades, better defense than lance, and constantly repositioning that would make insect glaive users blush. This really ruins that feeling of there is no correct weapon to pick when there’s one so far above the others. Edit: Also wire bugs I feel just ruin any sense of consequences to your actions because why bother having to carefully manage neutral and an uncomfortable position when you can instantly get yourself out of harm’s way.
@TonyJenn Жыл бұрын
@@jamy9290not necessarily on the graphical front. The reason rise/sunbreak doesn't look as graphically intensive is because the switch was the lead platform (Rise and World at one point were being developed simultaneously). I doubt MH6 will come to the current switch, but if it does, they can get a port studio to work on that port. Not the first time that's happened.

The enemy design in sunbreak is pinnacle. The amount of guts it takes for your last monster to not be a set piece boss is massive. Primordial is challenging by its attack behaviors alone. And the amount of monsters they have tuned to perfection. Impressive.

Wire bugs has a lot of problems, but it also brings in many great attributes that main MH games have never reached Portable team is quite famous for the creativity ( Zinogre, the fated four, Valstrax etc ), and now the team from Frontier joined in, they went ham on their creation, all thanks to the wire bug system

As much as I like the mobility, it takes away one fundamental thing from the hunt: Fear. Before, when I got hit, laid on the ground and was one hit from death, it was scary. In older games you could even panic heal, locking you in the animation before you looked what the monster did next, and if it did a quick move, you could cart. If I cart now it's more of an annoyance and I think "Guess my health wasn't full enough" or "Guess I should've used a potion instead of trying to heal through attacks". Only with the first hunts from Primordial Malzeno (I fought him right after the main story because I only recently started the game) I had that feeling of being scared because his combos seemed to never end, his speed was bonkers and his damage insane. It's the only monster in the game I needed more than 3 tries for, which is a good thing to me, I want to struggle a bit.

I’m so happy I wasn’t the only one. Between progressing in Rise I was also playing MHGU and it occurred to me, I never actually felt fear or nervousness in Rise’s hunts. In MHGU I’d get those moments where my heart would pound and I genuinely felt afraid of the monster, Rise however just never did that.
@tunnel77xx328 ай бұрын
idk, I'd like to argue that the fear is still there but shows up in a different form, in the sense of like if you miscalcute yourself and walk into a combo or a grab without wirebugs you basically get carted pretty fast if your'e not careful. I feel like the fear you talk about is more from a nostalgical perspective and about what you said, the limitations of older games that stick you in these animations locks. My issue with that is in older games is that yes it does induce fear but after awhile i find it quite boring and annoying as a vetran player, and for new players it can be a real turn off to keep playing as well. I would like to see the devs double down on this new idea having more options after getting hit. I'd also like to see more options for the monsters to punish us for preforming those said new options as well. I said this with world but, i feel like as we start getting new monster hunter games alot of these new games are gonna feel pretty easy for us veteran players and our experinces wont be like our first games.
@bobisuncanny2760 Жыл бұрын
4:42 Honeslty a cool and more organic way to bringing back the wirebug (the mechanic not the bug themselves) would be to erase completely the invincible state lying on the ground. So each time your character is on the ground after an attack, you can still get hit afterward. BUT, in this state you can perform a wakeup-roll, a dodge, with very good i-frames, around the same lenght as a normal dodge, in any direction but which can also give you access to new attack animations. But in order not to make this mechanic OP, it would be nice to add a timing system, if you execute the wakeup-dodge and the attack that goes with it too soon, the invincibility frame that goes with the dodge will disappear and you will be sensitive to the next hit, like you could cancel a dodge (mid-air) to attack.

Being a new fan that's playing both pre and post-world games, Rise and 4 Ultimate, I have to say I like both games a lot. They both have their own merits. "But Rise is too easy and flashy!", "Games before World are too clunky!", "World is the only good one!" NO. Shut up. Monster Hunter is good now, it was good in the past, and it'll continue to be good in the future. Really just reinforces my view that the only opinion I should listen to is my own.

I think the monster design is great! I would like MH6 to pull in some of the fear and immersion of the earlier titles to match, though. I think there’s too much mobility in Risebreak, personally. I’d like a bit more balance there. I think Risebreak kills the immersion of an actual hunt with its level of mobility among other things and it becomes more of a boss rush game than I prefer.

Honestly alot of people are saying Rise is easier but with all new stuff and the pace of the fight along with the SFX I personally feel like it really makes me not be as engaged in the fight and just mindlessly aggressively attack the monster which gets me caught so much. I'd like for them to give more impact to monster attacks and such as in previous titles I was more engaged in the fight and actually thinking about the monsters. Alot of these mid tier monsters always catch me since its just so "spammy" in this game imo. It takes the charm away from alot of weapons; hammer for example in this game doesn't feel rewarding at all. I don't know if they will ever return to the older pace of the games but at the very least they could return to the SFX it would be appreciated. I feel like I'm playing with toys whenever I hop into Rise.
@Expresso52 Жыл бұрын
I feel like all the new forms just make the monsters feel very same-y. So many high tier mons have them and most of them boil down to them powering up, the player requiring to hit their glowing spot(which is usually their primary weapoint anyway) and getting a subsequent free knockdown. The free damage feels unearned and the monster spends too little time in its best state before you kill it. Afflicted monsters having another such mechanic on top of others, as well as a lot of the fights following similar structures in the way they taunt and combo things, makes so many fights blend together

Loved your video and that you're enjoying yourself in the game. I just don't agree that the game is better because is more flashy, it's just a matter of preference. I like it more when I have to think about my positioning, which moves should I use and what the monster is doing.

I will try to express my felling about rise but first great video. So I overall enjoy Rise a lot but clearly in a different way than other MH game, the new switch skill are great and should be keep (I know it is not the first type with hunting style) I think the fight themself are better and more dynamique So a better game ? Well not really I try but overall can t take the game seriously (not a bad thing but not what I am searching with MH) overall the attack are bigger but you can escape them even faster that they are growing big, you can make mistake but their is no consequence, I mean you can be OS but that all, it is pretty hard to die if you are not trying to play way to aggressively, I think overall the fight are way less tense, you cannot really die, you can just take a hit and being up immediately, the monster have more target and so target you less, the pacing well I think it is worst, like it is just aggressive all the time for all monster, no moment you respect the monster and it move because you can just slide across the floor and end up being safe. It is not like I hate being aggressive, some fight need to ask you to go all in but if every fight is the same at the end I do not really care if I am being hit by risen valtrax or aknosom I will do the same action anyway. so TLDR I really like the game but not wire falling (and maybe OP health potion) lol also fuck rise vertical hitbox, I never seen a hitbox worst than narwa doing a vertical flip, I have a video of me being hit when I was like 4m to it side with a IG lol And maybe to tad too much RNG in the end game but I guess that keep me grinding
@theazureeyedaassassin885 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that was my experience too. Midway through it occurred to me, I never actually felt threatened by the monsters. Carts felt more like an inconvenience than an actual threat, and attacks just felt inconsequential. Whenever I went back to MHGU I realized if I fucked up I would actually panic. When in certain situations or saw certain attacks I’d legitimately get nervous. Rise just doesn’t have that impact, fights just feel way to nonchalant.

I definitely agree with some of these things but things like wirefall or wire bugs overwhelming speed and mobility just makes the fight boil down to turning off your brain and go unga bunga besides a tiny few monsters in Sunbreak. I don't mind the idea of something like wirebugs but they're a bit too much to the point where even the hardest monsters feel average in difficulty. Hell playing Sunbreak kinda makes you worse at mh because it makes you believe you can kill the monster without having to think but then you get stomped because of that. Sunbreak also has just too many modes and the fact you can knock them out of it just ruins the uniqueness and that "Oh shit" feeling you get usually. But Sunbreak monsters has some incredible fights but I think putting them in a game with world/iceborne pace of game combat could make them feel even amazing to fight then Sunbreak
@thewizward8471 Жыл бұрын
Its cool that theyre being more generous with extra phases on monsters, however I still feel like Sunbreak's boss design is a step back from World's simply because monster/weapon matchups feel far more skewed. Take soloing Risen Valstrax with longsword vs insect glaive as an example. One of them is an amazing intricate dance of counters and fast paced action, and the other is borderline unplayable without evade extender. World had bad matchups like hammer vs Fatalis, but it never felt anywhere near as skewed as Sunbreak's fights, which is most likely the reason weapon usage rates are more skewed towards a few weapons in Sunbreak. Monsters just arent as well rounded to approach, you can either take advantage of the counter windows of youre stuck flailing around.

I really hate the combat of Sunbreak. Monster Hunter wasn't really realistic, BUT World and Iceborne somehow made it feel a little bit more realistic. This is an anime fighter with so many lights and explosions, that I had to turn effects down in order to actually see what was happening. Also, all of the counters and mobility made the battles pretty easy if you had your armor up-to-date, even lacking skill. I came from facing the Behemoth, Furious Rajang, Raging Brachydios, Alatreon, Arch-Tempered Velkhana and Fatalis. And if you wanted to make those hunts SOLO, you were for a HARD RUN. But Sunbreak made the fights TRIVIAL and INCONSEQUENTIAL. None of the final bosses was nowhere near as difficult. Which, I get it, it is made in order to bring back more casual players AND because it's a game made for a portable console which, let's be honest, it's not the most comfortable way to play for long periods of time, so you need to make the controls easier, and the hunts shorter. And now "MH Now" ditched completely the wirebug for a mobile game completely focused on casuals, something that a mobile and tactile game would have benefitted a lot in order to bring more players to the franchise. Maybe it's just me, but for the majority of people who like MH, the feeling seemed to be shared. One of the telling points for me that show that people like better World/Iceborne is that you can still go today and play World/Iceborne and you find plenty of players always. Heck I think that Sunbreak made people appreciate even more so World/Iceborne. And most of the bigger Monster Hunter KZbinrs share also this sentiment. Maybe we are all a bunch of old weirdos, but that doesn't seem to be the case in my opinion.

while I like a lot of what sunbreak has done sunbreak itself is heavily flawed, why? the hunters are too overpowered way too overpowered, to emphasize my point after attempting primordial malzeno in the story quest the first time I expected a challenge it was tough to dodge its attacks however, in the end I prevailed with no carts, why? well it wasn't because I had watching 10 videos or something and knew the fight in and out no I just had berserk :/ just that one skill paired with level 3 kushala blessing basically made it impossible for me to die were talking 2 skills 5 levels in total 3 of them being 1 slots and I've become essentially immortal just like that with the only way of dying to be getting hit while I'm about to scroll swap which happens once in a millenium since I can get up after getting hit so fast with wirefall same thing with hazard I proceeded to do the fight even faster and with exactly 0 carts again because it was just that easy with berserk at least if it was the old games switch skill swapping would have probably been a lot bigger of a detriment to me as I would have to get up from the ground taking a while anxious about the monsters next hit and waiting patiently to know the best time to switch scrolls but I also couldn't do it too late lest I risk dying to berserk itself but berserk itself is a really neat skill which I really do love if they made it less overpowered I'd use it in almost every game because of how fun I think it is to play but with sunbreaks wire falls and the speed of the combat itself berserk's downsides are not even downsides anymore I could however see this skill have its downsides be reinforced in the older generations of MH games so while I do think combat of rise opens new doors to the series it also closes a lot of them so personally what I would want is a mix so say one of the dev teams handles the more fast paced MH games and the others handle the slower old gen sadly I doubt this will really happen with sunbreak and world being capcom's best selling releases I don't imagine them coming back to old gen ever again at least not in the same way as before appeasing the new western audience seems to be capcom's current goal we'll just have to see if they do it in detriment to the original fans or not

I personally think Generations Ultimate perfected the Monster Hunter combat. World and Rise feel like massive downgrades. Especially Rise which doesn't even feel like a Monster Hunter game. I can definitely understand why people like Rise but if I wanna play an action game with crazy movement and freedom of player expression then I'll just play DMC. I love DMC and I love MH because it used to be pretty much the polar opposite of DMC. Classic MH is slow, methodical, strategic and has a heavy emphasis on positioning which is what makes it so incredibly fun, unique and compelling. Every action you made was a commitment and if you made a mistake then you were punished for it hard. GU is definitely faster and more over the top than its predecessors but it still manages to have a focus on commitment despite also having stuff like Adept/Valor Style and Absolute Evasion. World is definitely more loosey goosey with its movement but it at least still feels somewhat like a Monster Hunter game but Rise on the other hand? Oh boy, oh man, Rise is uhhhh... yeah no. Not for me. I played the Demo for both Rise and Sunbreak and I hated literally everything about it. The only good thing about Rise is that it made me realize that World is actually pretty good. I don't know what direction MH6 is gonna take but it makes me sad that classic Monster Hunter is most likely dead and never coming back.
