Calm/Submissive/Benevolent ........ this kind of atmosphere happens only with the presence of a strong pack leader. You don't excite them, they are very relaxed, happy and healthy. Like a concerned responsible parent, you control the possible excitement before it goes out of control and attention is almost impossible. The adult dogs have high regards to you and puppy sense it. I do hope they all end up with deserving parents. Don't hesitate to test their handling and share your "how to be a loving-responsible pack leader". There is no such thing as bad dogs, only bad owners. Always a pleasure to see a knowledgeable owner.

1000Kbaby Maybe the person doesn't understand that much about dogs as you - I SUPPOSE. If this is only about "anti feminism" or whatever, you know, there are female leaders in nature. Be careful, you can become as bitter and alienated as the feminists you criticize.

sadly there are bad dogs. I have witnessed excellent owners have there dog bite and attack without reasonable cause. that is just another excuse for the bad dog. fortunately most dogs are wonderful pets.

1000Kbaby Please read the OP again. They are clearly referring to the HUMAN as the pack leader and not letting things get out of hand. Not the female dog, who actually DOES do the child rearing and teaching. There is a pecking order. Person at the top.

Agreed, my female GSD came to me at 4.5 weeks (don't ask-not a good situation) she used to snarl and be aggressive because she did not get disciplined by her mom. I used to have to do it but scruffing her. She did outgrow it and she is not 10 years old and sweet. Still an Alpha female, but a good one. My male GSD loves her.

Jordan Simon yes it's very true the puppies benefit a lot from being around their siblings and their mother. The only thing I would caution against is people who don't have their pups inside. When people keep them out in the backyard without human interaction they can become shy or scared of people. The longer that they don't have human socialization the more shy they will be. So while being with their mother and their sibling is great for interaction with their own species, they really do need human socialization for the same reasons when it comes to human interaction. :)

THIS is why letting puppies stay with their mother and litter mates is important! It teaches them good manners! Giving/selling puppies too young is not a good idea. It teaches them how to behave around other dogs and people. They learn to not bite too hard when playing because its painful among other polite behavioral traits. It really bugs me when irresponsible "breeders" (or people who just let their pets have puppies bc they never fixed them or they think it's cute) let puppies go too soon and then the new family has to deal with the unmannered pup bc they don't know any better. I'm well aware that puppies will be puppies and still bite and pee and rip things but i promise that their mothers teach them how to behave better in social aspects, whether with other animals or humans, it's also the family's responsibility to teach their new puppy proper manners which many unfortunately don't realize.

I'm laughing at the people in the first video acting all-knowing about how 'normal' puppies are supposed to act. They've obviously never had a puppy. Even I learned at a young age that when the puppies sass their mamas and it looks like the mama is punishing the baby it's actually teaching it respect and it'll also save the pup from injury from another dog that has no patience whatsoever for its sass. Then I saw someone accusing the owner of abusing the puppy saying that its coat is so dirty. It's not dirty, it's a brindle! smh 🤣

She's such a good momma! That puppy is a far cry from the way she was in the first video. This is why it's so important for puppies to be socialized properly, and to not be taken away from their mother too early. Imagine that puppy going to a home where they couldn't identify and adjust her behavior properly...she'd just end up becoming another sad statistic in the world of dog bites. I'd love for people to post more of these dog behavior vids, so we can learn from the REAL teachers how to upbring a puppy.

you can but time consuming. You have to stay with puppy and correct it every single time. and when you stop the puppy, you need to have precious timing and force ,pressure. the problem is, if timing is wrong, for example puppy show teeth, and deescalate , your correction might be punish the deescalate behavior. then you get a psycho dog. or just beat the dog, then dog will hide their threatening signals, in the future dog might bite without warning, then it's very dangerous dog for family. also you need to know how much physiological pressure to put on dog, like mother slowly put more pressure. For dogs it's instinct, but for human, our reaction time is longer than dogs, and it's learned behavior. also you can't avoid socializing your dog, that's number one tip to prevent little psycho.

After watching so many "funny" dog videos with clueless owners, it is a treat to watch a video from an owner who actually knows how dogs work. Some years ago, I rescued two 3 month old puppies from the streets when someone tossed them into traffic to die. I had neighbors with adult dogs and would let the pups play with them. The adult dogs would correct the bad behavior and teach the pups boundaries. One of the neighbors had told me to "let it happen" and that the older dogs would not hurt the puppies. You could literally watch the transformation from bad mannered pups to good mannered pups. Animals teach their own kind far better than any human can do, so let it happen.

Good point and I’m glad you were open to taking that advice from another person, many people are not and just continue to live in constant stress with a dominant/aggressive dog that they often give up on. You see it at the park all the time; it’s the dogs one chance to learn from others if their own type and the owners just will not let it happen, intervening and causing a big scene before they even get close to each other.

Stop pretending the most intelligent species should learn complex human parenting skills from animals that base everything on instinct. Like many deluded people on dog videos you are giving animals virtues they don't have, which is cute as a comment but dangeous if anyone takes it seriously.

Loved this! My boys watched too and we had a great conversation about how mammas across species have to correct their children so the are respectful and good humans, dogs, cats etc.. My youngest is very much like that puppy.. Very stubborn and sassy.. We are working on him being respectful and working on behavior. That mamma has way more patience than I do sometimes! 🤣

I'll never get tired of saying, if you want to raise a well mannered animal, leave the raising to the mother! No one knows better than her how to communicate with her puppies in a way that they understand, and no one will teach them how to be a dog, better than another dog. My aunt had her border collie bred, and she was a strict momma, not as flexible as yours lol. Those puppies had better behave after the first warning or there'd be trouble

DragonSkaterrr why would you breed an badly trained dog? of course the puppies are going to pick up on her habits, she's their only source of knowledge, that's why you need to teach her basic decent behavior (like you should do with any dog) beforehand. If you're not willing to do that, you shouldn't have puppies

I can tell by the way you verbally corrected and tone of your voice that you know what you're doing and accept no disrespect from them, they know you're the alpha. They responded right away when you verbally corrected them, it was a subtle and relaxed correction. Most folks just don't get dogs, talking to them all high pitched and getting them excited, treating them like they're humans and they're offended by any correction anyone does to their dogs. The dogs look nice and healthy, lean and not obese like some folks like having them. Beautiful dogs

not trying to argue but theres no such thing as alphas the person who created that theory long retracted it the reason why there seems to be an "alpha" is because when wolves reach maturity the sometimes go and start packs of their own with another female/male and later their pups will listen to them even when they have kids of their own you cant really become the alpha if this person raised these dogs or the dogs actually respect the owner they will listen . The saying "don't bite the hand that feeds" is what comes to mind when thinking this www.businessinsider.com/no-such-thing-alpha-male-2016-10 small article that cites the actually person who retracted his work they legitimately cited this person you know what animal does sorta have a alpha CHICKENS I just love that idea
