Accounting is actually fun. Memorizing income statements, balance sheets and other various statements is definitely tedious, but don’t let it discourage you from trying Accounting out. It just takes someone with dedication, critical thinking, and reading skills.

@@ohexwhy1769 I'm currently doing ACCA, the job market is not very good as Pakistan is going through a recession but things were not good either in the years prior to it, but ppl with CS background are doing really really well, a friend of mine who's a SE was earning 260k pkr per month with 2 years of experience, she has now moved to Europe, it's much more easy to move to and settle in better economies if you're in IT which is the only goal I've ever had, just look at the Irish immi system for example, you need to work there for 5 yrs for citizenship but if you're in IT you can get it in 2 yrs. you earn much much more around the world if you're in IT. My cousin is in cyber security his first job paid him 80k per month. Data scientists are just killing at this moment. And We are not talking about outsourcing jobs here. The only way I can do well in my career is if I get a 3 year internship in the big 4 which is nearly impossible. And they'll pay me 5k per month for 3 years, consider that the travel expense to the office would be at least 7.5k, I'll pay out of my own pocket for the job, bcz of exchange rate the cost of ACCA has gone up by some 75%, it's now in millions of pkr. The job market outside of the big 4 isn't any good either. In the US there's a massive shortage of 380k accountants but still the enrollment in universities and CPA is consistently declining, simply bcz there isn't enough money. Bcz accounting is a cost centre, it's a necessary evil, businesses would rather not have it, finance and IT and engineering ect generate revenue. Go into CS or data science or engineering if you can, I can't stress this enough. My brother got enrolled in bscs in the no.1 uni in the country, he made the same mistake as I did, 7 yrs on he's still doing his CA. plus the toxic work environment is unthinkable, imagine the worst bullies and scum of the society, that's the sort of ppl he works with. We can go on and on but I hope you get it. (things like HRM and marketing are even worse)

Accountant is such a saturated field nowadays that having a bachelor's degree is equivalent to having a high school diploma. If you want to be an accountant and get decent pay, you'd better pass 4 parts of the CPA exam or 2 parts of the CMA exam. If you study accounting and have no capability to pass those 2 exams, your career will be extremely tough as you will have to compete with newly grad accountants with CPA for an entry level job of $20/hour; let alone competing for mid-level job of $40/hour.
