The problem with this assumption lies in the USD still being around and BTC isn’t simply the unit of account. The CAGR and 4% rule don’t apply with a fixed supply asset. That’s a fiat mindset. What matters is purchasing power if BTC becomes money (saving & spending) and for that it is estimated to be 100-1000X for every $1 invested.

Good thought-provoking retirement insight. I trued to do something similar myself recently but found that when you factor in the future “cost of living” values (which roughly double every 10 years here in the uk) it does mean that you would have a tight first 4 years following retirement, but providing you buy / sell somewhere near the bottom / top then during the next bull run, things get a little more rosy.

The key is to find an amount you're comfortable with each week and dollar cost average over time. For example, you could allocate 5% of your income each week. That conversation should be a lot easier to have with your wife than looking at the big numbers.

Completely flawed, your numbers assume conversation of all BTC to dollar and then calculated using stable dollar value. In reality BTC will continue to rise in value over the 20 years. To be filthy rich you only need 20 million sats. Given that the value will continue to rise as you withdraw.

I find these Bitcoin projections interesting. I put together a model based on historical data and assuming that Bitcoin produces no wealth (makes no interest or grows on its own) and basically consumes capitalization wealth. Basically it will always be a zero sum game. Using a biological type growth model and fitting historical data indicates that the big growth era is over and that in 2033 it will be worth $62786. This assumes 5% inflation and BTC tracks it. In other words it will cost $1.62 to buy todays dollar value so in terms of today’s dollars that is $38545. I am really curious to see if this model gets it right. I am certainly planning my investment strategy on it. I have yet to see anything like this, it’s either $1M or $0 depending on who you speak to. BTW I not anti BTC but trying to best understand it for what it is.

@@matrixxxx6263 it’s included in the modeling as an oscillation in the market capitalization. This feature was necessary to get consistent parameter results that were not too dependent on the start date of the fit. It actually turns out that the model fits 44 months not 48 for the cycling. One halving occurred after 42 months and another after 47 months thus so far these halving events seem to happen a bit quicker than 4 years. I wrote a program on my phone where you enter a date and it gives an estimate. In a long term running average sense (excludes short term volatility) it predicts the bottom to happen in May with a price of $25K. Not investment advice but according to the model BTC is little underpriced today.
