I once had a Monster Juice and a Reign (460mg total) and the rest of the day I was scared for my life because of the FDA warning the 400 mg should be max per day. Now I never go over 400.
@CaffeineMan15 жыл бұрын
Its best to be safe! Although, if you go over...and it was spread out through the day, I wouldnt be too too scared. You could check out caffeine informer to see what your limit is based on by weight, as mine is 640, but the 400 per day is that much on a regular basis. One day isnt (shouldn't) hurt you, as long as its spread out.

The worst case I can remember my body in was on a Dreamhack 7 or so years ago. I had somewhere around 8+ 50cl energy drinks, hadn't eaten anything substantial nor slept for roughly 30 hours (breakfast the day before + a bit of snacks - I'd simply forgotten and never felt hungry) I don't think I was in danger or anything as I wasn't cold sweating or getting dizzy etc, but my hands were shaking almost as if I had goosebumps for over an hour after I had realized and went to grab food. Fun fact on top of that was that that same day(s) was my record for 51hrs+- of staying awake, I don't think I can even come close to that at even my current age. When you're a kid somewhere around 14-18, things that would at my current age make me get a headache or at least feel discomfort simply get shrugged off and feel natural - Until you hit that limit where it actually brings physical consequences such as severe nausea or quite a few things that generally lead you to feel like trash or even pass out. Anything worse than that isn't realistic to your odds however.

For a while I was having 1 energy drink almost every day as I was stressed out over maybe where I work was going on strike which did happen for 2 weeks but I have cut back on energy drinks. Now I only have 1 one day & skip one or more days then have another one. Only have 2 or 3 energy drinks a week & I feel better about it. When I do have energy drinks it takes me 10-14 minutes to finish 1 can. Don't need to rush it at all. I also have 4-5 bottles of water a day to stay hydrated
@AarmOZ844 жыл бұрын
General role of thumb: No more than 400 mg in a day for an adult, and only 200 mg at a time if you are going to immediately engage in heavy physical activity/exercise (such as taking a pre-workout drink).

@CaffeineMan14 жыл бұрын
I mean, if you're not used to caffeine, then yes, these are the things that can happen. high heart rate and anxiety, especially if you are prone to anxiety. Luckily enough 400 is within the safe limits so you are good, but still, these are recommended maxs based on the entire day...not some of the people that take 300 in one dose of Reign or Bang. Those are enough to give anyone heart palipitations if they are used to it. Glad you're still alive 👍 😂

Its not about being a rookie persay. Different people also have different tolerance levels to caffeine, so we are all affected differently. There are plenty of workout people that drink 600mgs on a daily basis, then complain when they dont get the same energy a few months later.

Sorry to hear that. Seizures are definitely no fun. Are they convulsive seizure, like grand mal, or petite mal? Simple or complex? And is the caffeine that big of an effect on them? 2 cans of Bang is still 600mgs of caffeine, and if the 5-7 cans of red bull monster were the 16oz, you were around a gram...so you've definitely gone down, so thats a plus. Just to point out. Caffeine pills are actually the slowest form of caffeine digested and coffee/energy drinks are the quickest. The main difference is the quantity of caffeine one can take at a single time.
@CaffeineMan15 жыл бұрын
True, caffeine pills do take longer to absorb into the bloodstream. Depending on how fast you drink your coffee or energy drink, you could feel the effects faster or slower. If it takes you an hour to drink an energy drink, the caffeine is going in at slower doses so it should last longer as it is constantly being processed. As for coffee/energy drinks being fastest, thats not necessarily true. Caffeine gum gets absorbed through the oral membranes faster and can usually start working within 10-20 minutes depending on the brand. Jolt claims it works 5 times faster than any other brand, but hasn't stated an actual time range. Thanks for watching and commenting! I didnt even think to add processing time.

If you were to consume 64 milligrams of caffeine every 15 minutes without going to the bathroom at all it would be kind of like what people had to do when they took part in that radio contest called hold your wee for a wii and that would be extremely dangerous and a really good way to get accute water intoxication as well as a great way to overdose on caffeine so therefore to make consuming caffeine as safe as possible you should limit the amount of caffeinated beverages you consume daily by consuming to 1 caffeinated beverage a day and sticking to mostly either water or caffeine free beverages and if you need more than one cup of coffee a day drink 1 regular coffee and 1 or 2 decaf coffee afterwards to keep your caffeine consumption really low as possible.

You could look for drinks like Zevia that use Stevia, as well as Sugar Free venom which uses a little bit of sucralose but also Erythritol. Several of my diabetic subscribers have had good luck with the sugar free venom. I also plan on doing Guayaki Yerba Mate in the next month or two. Good luck!

Workout days I easily push at least a gram (1000mg+) of caffeine, usually a bit higher to get me through the day while in a calorie deficit. Non workout days I tone it down some to only coffee with maybe 400mg tops. Can’t go too crazy everyday because my tolerance will just skyrocket!
@CaffeineMan15 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and the side effects at those higher doses on a regular basis can start to become increasingly worse. You get headaches going from 1000 to 400? or does the 400 still work to keep it at bay?
@chicagorilla49835 жыл бұрын
I rarely get headaches which is shocking to me. It’s more of a general lack of energy sometimes on the lower dose days, also switching from energy/preworkout caffeine sources to strictly coffee on nonworkout days could have some sort of effect 🤷♂️
@CaffeineMan15 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, just coffee will be totally different. You pretty much just get caffeine from coffee. The Energy drinks have all sorts of B-Vitamins, Taurine, and energy boosting ingredients, etc.

If so, check out my video on Jesse's Wake Up Bar (if you havent already). Its a (very small) caffeinated healthy chocolate bar that uses all natural ingredients. It has 310mgs of natural caffeine that is bound to give you some long lasting energy. Now, keep in mind, you may or may not get hyper, but you shouldn't feel tired several hours afterwards. Since its dark chocolate, it is a little bitter....well, I'll let you check it out if you're interested.

400mg max per 24 hours usually for me. Just for testing my own limits I went up to 500mg once or twice but I was feeling very ill from that. Usually I have 2 monsters and 2 redbulls spread out over the entire day. That way I can stay alert and focused but still drink delicious drinks all day.

I understand how you feel. I have had friendly debates with other teenagers about the topic. The best way I try to explain it is that you can develop anything at anytime. People can eat peanuts and then become allergic to them years later. People can eat sugar, but as they get older, potentially get diabetes, as diabetes is very common. As we get older, our bodies change and it could be for the worse. When it comes to heart problems, they are usually diagnosed later in life. Therefore if you have an undiagnosed heart problem, it only takes one time for you to be wrong about what you think your body can handle and we wont ever be able to chat again. So, why risk it? I say, just safely consume caffeine. The doctors and SUPER smart people in the world come up with these numbers for a reason. And those numbers are always backed by science...not what we like to think. Thank you so much for watching this video though! It shows you do like to keep informed. Most teenagers just watch my energy drink reviews. What teenager wants to hear an old man blab on and on about "Don't have too much caffeine, blah blah blah!" Thanks for watching and stay safe. The most I had in 1 day was almost 3500 mg of caffeine and crazy enough I felt completely fine (Makes no sense lol) . I still drink them on occasion but not in excess anymore. I've tried many brands but right now I'm stuck on venom energy :)

There are some people with an immunity to caffeine. Caffeine is metabolized in the body by an enzyme Cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2). Everyone has 2 copies of the gene. There are 2 variations of this gene which affect how quickly a person metabolizes caffeine. The CYP1A2*1A variety makes an enzyme that metabolizes caffeine very rapidly. However, the CYP1A2*1F allele metabolizes caffeine slowly. One of these genes may not be functioning correctly or both may be functioning more excessively, thus processing the caffeine too fast.

Is chugging a entire 32 oz cup of coffee in one entire sitting dangerous if so what is the rule of thumb for consuming a 32 oz cup of coffee.
@CaffeineMan12 жыл бұрын
Depends on the kind of coffee. Some coffee only has 70mgs per 8oz, other coffees like Deathwish have 57mgs per one ounce. Therefore a 32oz cup of coffee could be anywhere between 280mgs and 1824mgs...therefore, just figure out how much caffeine is in YOUR 32oz cup and if its less than 400mgs, it should be safe. As a general rule of thumb, chugging products with caffeine is never recommended.

Ive researched the topic in general and there arent any conclussive studies on that. One of the best things to do when starting to research the topic is to go to Web MD and just type in caffeine. It will give the the known effect, possible side effects, and inconclussive studies side effects. Stunted growth isnt on that list. And most of the negative side effects are from over-consumption. Actually just posted a video today.

Have had around 500 to 1300 mg over the couse of 24 hours, the latter being rare for me. Have taken 5 - 100 miligram caffiene pills at once but knew that it was over the limit yet also knew that I would be extremely lazy and mostly immobile during this time in front of a computer for about 3 hours so I had the heart rate of somone jogging while sitting down and the heart rate and increased energy was all I noticed, but I didn't get up once or make any sudden large movements since I knew that would be a terrible decision having a heart rate of over 100 bpm while sitting in a chair moving a hand... Also I process caffiene at a good rate and have a high tolerance. So if you haven't been having around 32 oz. of strong coffee every morning/ throughout the day and haven't built a tolerance for it then please dont risk your life over this stimulant since for you 500mg of pure caffiene taken at once may be like 1000 at once for me. And you may noy be aware of a heart condition/problem you may have. I'd say try to stick to a cup of coffee every week 3-5 days with 4-2 days to lose some of the tolerance so you wont feel like you need more each day to stay alert.

Thanks for all the info! Im sure a lot of people find it valuable to know what others caffeine intakes are. Especially if they are worried they are having too mucg. Obviously it varies for everyone but an overall idea of what other people have is good. My caffeine intake varies greatly depending on what I need. I go well over the 600 mark occasionally, but then a few days later, I may have 5 cups of green tea and be under 200mgs. I just make sure I dont go over 400mgs per day, every day, for several days. 600 one day, 300 the next, 500... 200... Etc. Anyway, thanks!

Do you feel tired a lot? Do you think you get enough vitamins a day? Theres a small chance you could be deficient in some vitamins and that causes fatigue. B Vitamin deficiency could be one, but another on is Magnesium Sulfate. Our bodies sometimes dont produce enough, and it usually doesnt show up during a regular physical, so you'd have to request it. Just a suggestion...wasnt sure if it was a serious problem or not, so figured Id throw it out there just to be safe.

@@CaffeineMan1 Yes, I feel tired more often than not. Thanks, I'll try those. It's probably my diet. I don't eat well. I also don't exercise. I don't think there's any amount of caffeine that can compensate for those.

No, caffeine isnt really meant to be used like that. Proper nutrition and vitamins are essential, which is why the energy drinks put so much B Vitamins in the drinks. You could easily ask your doctor for a vitamin blood test. People are amazed as to what they may actually be lacking in. I know people that have been low in potassium, Vitamin D, Vitamin B, magnesium and so much more. I mean, sometimes its hard to get all the vitamins you need out of the food that is around us on a regular basis.

Thats a pretty low safe limit, considering the Mayo Clinic says 400 is the max for most people. Caffeine doesn't always keep you awake, esecially if you have it on a regular basis. And in some case, depending on how tired you are, you can sleep after drinking one. Ive had plenty of occasions where I drank a Red Bull and went to bed an hour later. Lots of other factors too like the half-life of caffeine as well as how our bodies metabolize caffeine. Theres also sugar crash. If you had a Monster, an hour or two later, some people pass out once the sugar wears off. Its a huge sugar crash. Its sort of like feeling really good for a little while and then having someone just rip it away. LOL!

What about soft drink like Coca-Cola and Pepsi they both have caffeine in it so why would you ban energy drinks to underage children if Coca-Cola and Pepsi and Mountain Dew have caffeine in it
@CaffeineMan13 жыл бұрын
Soda only has a small amount of caffeine. You would have to drink 10 bottles of coca cola to get the same caffeine you get in one Bang. Its not only the amount of caffeine you have but also how quickly you have it because your body takes a certain amount of time to process caffeine. No worries though, the US will probably never pass laws on it until a large amount of people die from it regularly (and people complain). Its not really about banning energy drinks, its more about limiting caffeine. Thats how other countries do it.
