Main thing I got from this is that I need to move to the America 😂. In the UK you'd be lucky to earn £70k($90) as a Senior Network Engineer and this is in London which has one of the highest costs of living.

Hey Wali, thank you for sharing this information with us. Can you please explain what you mean by beginner in networking? Are you talking about tier one network analyst. Can you please elaborate more?

Question: should I get my network+ and then my CCNA? Or should I go straight to CCNA?
@PatShun9 ай бұрын
It depends on your background/experience. I’d suggest taking Network + and then the CCNA.
@NetworkWali9 ай бұрын
Those two certs are going to overlap a bit, but the CCNA is much more respected in the networking field, but it is a little bit more harder than the network+ exam. So I would go straight for the CCNA!

Thanks for the replies, gents!

Great content, What would be some advice for someone in FAANG trying to pivot to a network engineer role?Our Fabic is Cisco based spine leaf. I have my CCNA, with Sec +, AWS certs and more. Seems to be very challenging in my market of Atlanta. What would an ideal resume look like for a good candidate or skills employers would value.

Feel free to schedule a call with me in the link below I can help you with your résumé and take a look at it. But it seems like you’re in really good shape to potentially break into network engineering based off what you’ve said in this comment. You may have to tweak some things on your résumé and some other things that I can take a look at and can go from there.

How’s the remote work situation in network administration and engineering?
@NetworkWali9 ай бұрын
Yeah, there’s a decent amount of positions. Since you can basically SSH into any device remotely. I work in a hybrid environment, so it’s half work from home half in the office.
@FaLkraydz9 ай бұрын
@@NetworkWali love to “hear” that! I’m hybrid too but I want 100% remote. 😅 Thank you!

Hello I am going to for ccie security Is it worth to go for ccie security how will be scope of network security engineer in future. I do have CCNA certification.
@NetworkWali7 ай бұрын
@@AashishJoshi-ke1ng ehhh depends on what you want to be honest CCIE is an extremely difficult exam that will keep in a niche industry. I would rather go for something like a CISSP as that will give you more options.

I have a question. Honestly, I'm kind of pigeonholed in a low level job with cabling, and some layer 1+2 troublshooting, but now I'm just the access point guy. I'm definitely up for a change as I do lab every day to retain my CCNA knowledge. However, almost all NetEng jobs I see require some AWS or Azure knowledge (more often Azure). Do you think that AZ-104 or AWS SAA would be overkill if I want to stay in networking and already have my CCNA? Or would something like Azure fundamentals be enough? I can't imagine network engineers needing much Cloud proficiency beyond the fundamentals.
@NetworkWali9 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t necessarily say you need the cloud knowledge to become a network engineer, but it’s good to have in your pocket. The main thing you should focus on is trying to acquire more experience that is networking related. If your goal is to become a network engineer or network administrator etc focus more on the network side. Whenever you are looking at job descriptions, they are just wish lists and they always ask for more than they actually need so don’t worry about what they are asking for and just apply and see what the market says.
