Hey..glad your back. I was getting ready to call Cocke county and fill out missing people reports. 😂 That’s a tough trimming gig on that stop. Maybe it’s a southern thing but you mentioned visiting with the customer. I have several unmarried elderly customers in Dandridge and Jefferson City and it isn’t uncommon for them to invite me in for a snack and a chat. I don’t mind because my pricing is good and I’m not under pressure on the route. I figure, we are gonna be old one day. About the money, Route density is where it’s at. On the better routes with good density, I’m doing $2.20-$2.60 per minute with the big mowers. I do have some days where drive times bite into the clock. 😬 Stay safe out there.

We have had to unexpectedly take on an elderly member of our family with health concerns and we are trying to manage the situation and figure out what we need to do now. We really enjoy the channel and do not have any plans of quitting. We do sincerely apologize for the lack of videos recently and we really do appreciate all of the continued support from people like you! That stop is the hardest weed trimming we have done in a long time. We love the southern hospitality we get to experience here. The people are so kind we have had people leave us coolers with cold drinks and homemade cookies before. It is such an incredible experience to be able to help out people and see the kindness that is still out there. It is best if you can give an elderly person extra time, not only will they remember it but you will too one day and Lord willing someone will do the same for you one day. I totally agree with the route density and we hope to build ours to do better each year. We are still learning and this platform really helps us being able to hear from people like you. But keep on mind, yiu didn't "make" 575 or 745. You grossed that much. Out of which you have your costs, both fixed and variable. Your fixed costs are going to be your office costs (even in the home), insurance costs, equipment payments, and depreciation on equipment. Your variable costs are things like fuel, supply use, wear on equipment (not to be confused with depreciation), among a few others. You guys are on the way, though! I know a few people (companies) that are doing this very thing. You have two incomes coming all in to the same household. My wife and I do this, only with a lawn application business. 🙂

How do you find Adam's trimming? I know you said Harley will take it from him to speed up the process ( though I would get on a second trimmer and let him keep going to make it a little faster )....but I ask because I'm trying to train up my nephew and it is a stressful process 🤯🤯🤯😅 Maybe he gets a little tired by the time sundown hits, but we started a job the other evening, and.....no, it wasn't even just the last job, because he'd been kind of doing it for the whole 3 or 4 hours he was working with me.... but the weird thing is, sometimes he will trim quite well for his level of limited experience, but then two minutes later he will totally skip something obvious and be like "huh? What?" when I point it out 🤯 He's a good kid, so he's not scamming me, .....but sometimes I think he's scamming me 😂🤯🤯🤯🙏🙏🏽🙏🏻🙄

Adam has came a long way with his trimming. When he first started we did have to go back over a few places here and there and remind him of places that would seem obvious to us, or someone that has experience in the lawn care business, but he is a quick learner and more importantly he wants to learn. When he was little he was always going with us in the jobs and doing his school work in the truck(we homeschooled awhile) and he watched us do the yards and saw the business grow over the years. Now that he is older he has gotten some hands on experience and wants to be a part of the business as he grows up and could potentially make it his full time job. It sounds to me like we have the same experiences with Adam that you are having with your nephew. He will get better as time goes by, don’t give up on him and try to help prevent him from making some of the same mistakes that we have made or you have made in the past. I think we are going to get Adam his own weed trimmer so he can get used to how it feels and we can all run a trimmer of the big jobs. We will be praying that all goes well either you and your nephew and that your business grows a lot this year!

All of you should be wearing them as well as ear protection. It only takes one small peace of trimmer cord or a peace of stone/rock or grass and your eyes are damaged unrepairable for life. My father in-law had a piece of barbed wire go into his eye in and then straight back out , but he lost the full sight in that eye for the rest of his life. Could only see shadows no detail at all. Stay safe. Live to mow and enjoy life.
