Join me as I tell you how much I charge for this garden. Pricing garden maintenance is tricky and if I can give you a ball park figure to start from then that's a job well done.
This garden is mainly just a strim and a mow. Its nice and easy but maybe more importantly, the customers are nice! What a difference that makes.

Wow, its a grim job when you have customers that dont appreciate your worth, had one this week, not an annual contracted customer who originally wanted me to cut the lawn monthly, its fortnightly or find another gardener in my books, he agreed and did fortnightly cuts all 2023 season as a pay as you go customer. Asked for the first cut this week, mid bloody May for gods sake, much bigger garden than the one here which was charged at £25 per cut, had to go over it twice and charged £40 and told him its back to fortnightly going forward at last years price of £25 per cut, that was Tuesday and after a follow up text exchange reminding him to pay for the work he requested im still waiting for payment, boils my piss tbh, man drives a brand new Tesla and he’s holding back on £40, ill hound him till he pays what’s owed and then this muppets is going to need a new gardener. It’s a difficult enough job to do contending with the weather and i wont tolerate anyone that doesn’t understand and appreciate the service i provide.

I charge £21 for an "in and out" grass cut and strim in small gardens such as this. I see the £1 as basically an additional "sales tax" to cover fuel costs etc. Every little bit helps, and it still sounds reasonable from a customer perspective.

I would say 30, due to strimming and length. Also, I wouldn't cut the grass that short, I always use number 4 or 5 settings on my Stihl, the grass looks loads better for it in the long run. If the customer wants to water and feed the grass, that's how you have the conversation on charging extra.

The owner might consider using a sealant for the stone/concrete boarder...the only other I can suggest is minimising the absorption by pre damping them or wash off with walking soda or glycerin afterwards...probably suggest the owners to do ..never thought about this before your video. Excellent fine detail work 👍🏼

Grass sometimes grows lush like this if they have a dog pissing all over it, maybe it's a weekly cut for a bit less ? Pain in the arse when people have rendered walls to strim up to. I tend to strim so the cutting head rotates away from the wall and back onto the lawn. This doesn't solve it completely but certainly makes a difference. It might also mean you have walk backwards which can be a hazard. Many a time I've fallen over a small Wall or obstacle I've forgotten was there. Keep up the good work fella.

Good video. I always work on the basis that if your happy with the money your getting and the customer is happy, well thats all find & dandy. I don't think I'd charge more than £20 myself, I'm based in the North West. But I wouldn't be cutting it as short, especially as it looks like its had a Nitrogen feed. By keeping it a little longer the grass stays greener and it wont look so patchy once you've finished. I'd also suggest covering those raised beds with some of the clippings, especially cos they will be full of Nitrogen, help feed those beds. As for the staining a quick blast with a hose pipe or jet wash will sort that out, hopefully they paint it every year cos its white. Good luck mate and keep the vids coming 👍

As soon as I seen that lawn I knew he's been over feeding it with a nitro feed. Dark green and very quick growth. I have my PA1 - 6 Sprayers licence and offered fertiliser treatments last year. I was sorry I did because what little I made from it was soon eaten up by the extra time it took cutting the extra long growth for weeks and weeks afterwards. Price wise. For a regular customer £20. On the condition he stops feeding it. As that will stay like that now until pretty much the end of the season. Depending on what fert he's used Green staining. The way your strimming is not helping. Don't do short back and forward movements. Just cut in one direction depending on which way your strimmer head turns. This should throw the grass on to the lawn and not on to the wall. Good luck

I suggest when people have vertical beds and walls etc in lawn, that a brick border is laid at lawn level, so that the mower can mow right up to the vertical walls. No need to strim and spray grass staining the vertical white walls. Not much else you can do other wise if you have to strim. Could use small slabs to edge the lawn instead of bricks

For around the wall I'd recommend investing in the RG-KM attachment for your kombi, it cuts the grass like scissors and doesn't throw it against the wall like the strimmer line does... Also I'd personally charge a little bit higher just based on the amount of obstacles and strimming there is compared to actual mowing 🤷🏾‍♂️ nice little garden though!

As others have said its your job charge what you like/want especially as you like the customers. With regards the wall when strimming, what about a length of Plywood and or metal and staple spikes onto either side. Push into the ground against the wall/edging, it might not eradicate all the staining but it may be worth a try. Good job again young man.

Only minor issue I have is that when grass is wet it doesn't suck the clippings all the way back in the bag, at times they get stuck in blade. But then I probably shouldn't be cutting wet lawns. That sounds like its been an issue but it hasn't. It just means I empty the bag more regularly when it's wet
