Ok let’s agree you might have little bit high salaries in USA but... 1) You will spend decent money in health care even if you have health insurance, and if you don’t have have one than god saves you 2) As per Indian mentality nobody knows the term “work like balance”. In india Everybody use to do overtime, avoiding sick leaves and vacations to impress boss, same goes with America in little better way. But in Germany and other EU countries you are forced to take vacation (which is usually double than American vacation though), sick leaves and avoiding overtime. And of course in the end you have job security here.

I don't think you should not be reading too much into the exchange rate because it keeps on fluctuating, currently 1 USD is 0.90 Euros. The other problem is you are comparing median salary in Germany to average in US. 73K is a low for a median mechanical salary in the US. According to the bureau of labor statistics , the median mechanical engineering salary in the US is 95,300 USD (85,635 EUR). American engineers make more and play less in taxes than their German counterparts. It's also too simplistic to say cost living is less in Germany, because it real depends on which part of each country you live in. While there are some cities with a higher cost of living than in Germany, you can also find places with a cost of living comparable to or cheaper than the US. You also have to take into account other quality of life factors like more spacious living in the US and car ownership. I don't think even the best public transport system will provide you the same level of convenience as being able to drive.

One more point to note here is if you decide to live in one these places long term, you will need to consider long term costs that you'd have to save for or account for. Having lived in both countries, I can say that these long term costs in the US are much more. Examples: - Education is mostly free in Germany, but in the US only up to high school is free, University and above is super expensive. In the magnitude of several 100,000s USD. - Buying property, while it costs more for a similarly sized house in Germany, the property tax in the US is almost 10x of that of Germany per year. I think is it fair to say it all evens out at some point, but in the US there are lot more unpredictable expenses that can be quite the pinch on your pocket.

Taxes depend on the state he did California but we have states with no state income tax like Texas, Florida, Nevada, and Washington. You can graduate with little to no student loan debt if you go to community college, live at home, etc. if you want the college experience it is going to be expensive. So idk it depends.

I finished my masters in CFD/CAE. There are significant jobs but companies only prefer experienced candidates in this field. If you don't have experience in CAE/CFD and German level of B2 you will struggle to get one. There are thousands of Indians who are studying this course. But you will only see like 2 to 3 jobs per week in the job market. I'm not saying it's impossible but you might face hard challenges.
