Thanks for the video. I found it very difficult to find good data differentiating the salaries of interventional vs diagnostic radiologists, so your data which did was super helpful.

OMG. That's Tom Stavros' book in the background!! (I used to do US guided vacuum assisted bx workshops for him and Steve Parker when they came into town, way back in the day when they were a duo.) You must be planning to do a breast fellowship to have that book! Best of luck to you. Re salaries, a lot has to do with how much work or overtime work you do. Re gender gap, I'm a breast rad in the west coast (working for a huge HMO for a long time), and the base salary is the same for everyone, M or F. But if some want to work every weekend or do extra every night, they obviously make more. On the other hand, if you don't want to do any overtime, you don't make as much. The opportunity is the same for everyone. Where will you be doing your fellowship (if not confidential)? Best of luck to you!
@YashaGuptaMD2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is Stavros! Where are you on the west coast? I’ll be moving to California after fellowship! I’ll be doing breast imaging at Sloan Kettering starting in July.

@@YashaGuptaMD Congratulations on your fellowship! That's great! You must be excited to move to California. I'm in the L.A. area (suburb). The job market was wide open this past year. 'Hopefully it'll be the same for you next year (or this fall actually). Let me know if you have any questions about applying. (I'm toward the end of my career, so pretty far removed from that whole process, but I can give you my 2 cents, lol.)

I just think there is a gap because us women usually tend to work less hours and we usually can’t negotiate our salaries well.

I want to pursue a career in the med field that can give me both enough money and time to climb the world’s highest mountains. I was recommended radiology because they work in large groups and was told that I would be able to take 1.5-2 months off out of my year to climb. Is this true?
@YashaGuptaMD11 ай бұрын
In private practice people routinely get 8-12 weeks off per year. You would have to coordinate with your group but radiology is a great specialty to pursue outside interests 😊

Thanks for the video but at least you could have given us data from your environment or something that you are sure about. Because we have looked up this data online but the point of asking you is to get a better accurate estimate since the online ones are quite wide in range.

Hi Dr. Yasha, I had a question. If some community programs don't have ESIR, is it still possible to do be selected into an ESIR program at another residency program? Thanks!
@YashaGuptaMD2 жыл бұрын
Hi Syed, no unfortunately you have to stay at your home program for ESIR. So choose a residency program with ESIR.

Please make a video on how can IMGS match into radiology residency and by 2024 only students from WFME accredited medical college take USMLE how this is going to impact on Indian students
@YashaGuptaMD2 жыл бұрын
Here is my playlist on matching into radiology as an IMG: kzbin.info/aero/PLB-r319hherH69NNMw33x8aInBMUmC2d_ As far as the ECFMG update, looks like many schools in India and Europe are still not on the list for WFME but sounds like more will be added based on some preliminary readings. Unfortunately I don't have more insight than that.

What is the fear that radiologist don’t have to be local and hospitals can contract out of state, remote, cheaper. And then the rise of AI, not replacing all radiologists but reducing the need for many of them.

@@maxcox2661 that is a radiology technician, they go for two years to learn about it and they don’t diagnose. The radiologists that diagnose have to go to that amount of school. Technicians usually just take the pictures I’m pretty sure, you can look up the difference.
