How much does a cremation cost?

My mother in law recently passed away. She wanted to be cremated. I called different places, different funeral homes. I was shocked at how much some of them wanted to charge. For just a direct cremation with no service, no urn, no death certificate, on the low end I was quoted $1400. On the the high end, $3000. One company I found, advertised a flat fee of $695. I went with that one.

It is a rip off ! there is a price the SS will pay for it and it is somewhere around $500. I need to check on that. I want exactly what your mother in law got ! Looks like I have some shopping to do. It is amazing how these morticians get to fudge around how much they charge ! What frauds !!!!! some will push embalming as they can charge a lot for it and they use the excuse of " being a state law" and they usually lie. The good thing for them, besides the fee is the body will burn faster and it will save them on the gas bill. Again, one more benefit for them. Makes me want to go for a walk in the woods when my time is near, and hope I can pass, before the bears eat me. Ha.....I am a tree hugger, so I would really like that.

Misleading as she left out many steps in the process….picking up the body, refrigerate for 48 hours bylaw, put the body in a basic casket, transport to crematorium, cremation and collecting the ashes, a basic urn for the ashes, death certificates and notorized, inform social security office and obituary in newspaper… a funeral home does all these without a ceremony for direct cremation as one wanted. Costs will differ by location and facilities. Just went and checked and the cost is $4000 in Beaumont, Texas!!

Our grade school nuns used to tell us cremation was forbidden by the Catholic Church. They say you couldn't get a glorified body when you got to heaven. We'd ask "What about people blown up in an explosion? Or chewed to pieces by sharks?" We were told to be quiet.

They lied to you. They are clueless; but they like the control they get, mostly due to intimidation. Nothing to do with spirituality but all about control. Like some old man in a dress tells women birth control is a bad thing. How would he know ? the planet is over populated.

So you would have to get realised at school by 3:00 go to the hospital 3:30 receive certificate of death 4:30 go to cremation clinic which is most likely booked so you somehow make an in person appointment? 6:00 pay 500-1000$ get the ashes 10:00 make a ytshort about it

No, there’s actually much more to add to cost. Pick, storage and papers. Realistically if you are in the states it’s around 1500-2000. Big cities it will be around 2700-3200

Or a lot of people done know this but you can get a free cremation if you can not afford . So don't pay these dreadful people for reminding us we will die . I feel sorry for people with cancer seeing these awful adds

How do you get a free cremation ? burn yourself up with a tank of gasoline ? Hard to do after you are dead. You can't ask anyone to do it for you either.....they would get charged for burning a body. What rip off ! We are exploited, the moment we are born and it goes on until we die and they still exploit us. Scam !

If the Soldiers/Law Enforcers/Firefighter, etc... are considered HEROES and deserved Proper Burial with 21 Gun Salute Rites for carrying out their PAID duties and responsibilities... How about PARENTHOOD who carried their duties and responsibilities Freely without being PAID for, but as an Act of their Love for their Family, would it be more deserving than just HEROES' BURIAL and not CREMATION?... Of all the 10 commandments of God, there is only one commandment that has a Promise from God, (the 5th Commandment) "Honour thy Father and thy Mother" that you shall LIVE a longer life on Earth... Exodus 20:12... which means Honoring them while they are Alive even at their Death... Amen.
