In a serious note. Michael seldom answers any questions he comes up with. He describes the tools and details you need to come up with your own conclusions. And this is the ultimate form of education; 2+2 is only 4 if the scenario you're working on deems it necessary. Vsauce is about thinking, asking questions, and considering situations that would otherwise be ignored. I like how he has a similar philosophy to what Carl Sagan always said: these are important questions that we should all be asking.

wow this just shows how stupid you and the rest of 556 people who liked this comment are... he just mentioned in the start of the video how light pushes objects by force equal to 1 billionth of a kilogram... so technically if you were to subtract the weight of an area exposed to light minus the weight of the same area not exposed to light... you will still get 1 billionth of a kilogram which basically implies that the weight of shadow will be 1 billionth of your total weight... the rest of the video was just a question related to the idea of this video i.e if we were to push an extra sensitive button light year away with the help of light and with the help of a light year long rod... will the speed of push be greater then less then or equal to speed of light... and the answer is no, it will be less then speed of light... because when you push you have compression waves (longitudinal waves) developed in the object at the molecular level which in turn makes the object move... so that will definitely have more resistance over a light year long object rather then light which is an electromagnetic wave having particle nature which will inturn experience less resistance....

@TriggerDeluxeASMR6 жыл бұрын
This is untrue. The light exiting the phone actually pushes the phone up a little bit, and if you hold the phone it pulls you up with it. Since all the light comes out of the phone, not all of the light that came from the phone pushes your body, (it also pushes down on your surroundings like the floor or your bed) the light coming out of the phone pulls you up a little.

@onalltwos63409 жыл бұрын
Siri It doesn't. Instead of the presence of anything, a shadow is the absence of something. That something is light. Therefore it weighs exactly 0 pounds/g/kg... etc.

The sun is the only one who gives away his own light. The Moon and Venus reflect this light. If you destroy the sun, the moon and venus do not shine. (At least so our eye can see it. Light will of course come from other stars around, but it's so weak that the difference it makes is minimal.)
@barodrinksbeer74846 жыл бұрын
you only have to destroy the sun and venus, Director Krennic venus has a metalic surface, so it doesnt reflect just the suns light.
@Bronze_Age_Sea_Person6 жыл бұрын
Actually,the Albedo of Venus(the measure of how much of the light shining upon a surface will be absorbed or reflected) is so high because of it's clouds.If earth were full of clouds and ice,like a hazy snowball earth,it's albedo would be so high that we would cast shadows on far away places in the space too,maybe even Venus. If Venus have a metalic surface,it's covered by miles of clouds,so the surface's reflectivity is too small to be the main cause of Venus' brightness.

Do you remember the project back in the day where you need to drop an egg at a certain height and make something to cushion the drop? I used a slinky where the egg was on top of the slinky where my hand was, and I let the rest dangle from about a few inches from the ground. The egg was in a small pouch at the top when I dropped the slinky. There was also a weight at the bottom of the slinky so it would cancel out.the egg stopped about a few inches above the ground. And gently fell to the ground. I got an A+. But really I should have gotten an E... for eggselent.

My college course went away for an activity week and one of the first tasks was the same egg drop thing I said “I need a slinky and that’s it” so they gave me it and we had around 45 minuets to an hour to make are egg splat proof devices and when it come to presenting it everyone laughed but when it survived they all looked at me Like I was crazy ahaha never seen so many people’s jaws drop

@PuffyRainbowCloud8 жыл бұрын
Shadows aren't physical objects, they're merely a lack of reflected photons due to something blocking their path from a light source. They are nothing, and therefore weigh nothing.
@Ian-bf4yk8 жыл бұрын
PuffyRainbowCloud but light has energy and pushes the object so a shadow is a lack of that energy and the item it's on weighs less
@PuffyRainbowCloud8 жыл бұрын
Pikachu Sparks But it doesn't get negative weight simply because light isn't giving it any EXTRA weight. Gravity is still a factor.

I assume whether light adds to your weight or not is dependent on the direction the light travels when it makes contact with your body, thus upwards light projected from the ground should actually make you lighter (push you away from the ground).

@sirslimn404211 жыл бұрын
It's impossible I am sorry
@WhisperingShade11 жыл бұрын
It would be relative to the object its cast from. If the light passing through the object was slowed then the shadow is deepened and less in energy. Should mean lighter, given less photons(they have mass as well as wavelength). Imagine it this way. The weight of the shadow is dependent like all things to gravity, the density of mass, and the activity of energy(in this case the light moving through it.).
