First of all.... beautiful car. Very nicely done sir! It's unfortunate that the 3rd Generation Firebirds are so expensive for you guys across the pond. Granted, yours already had a few replica pieces installed (scanner, dash, ect), but a stock 3rd Gen V8 Firebird in the US can be bought for under $5000 US. Having said that, I've been to Knight Passions and ZA Eelettronica's websites...and the costs for the replica parts would be 4-5 times the cost of the car once shipping is included to the US. So I guess I'll stick with building Mustangs and continue to envy your beautiful KITT car!

Very good points, and beautiful KITT if I may say! Indeed, the better the overall shape of the car is when you buy it, the less you will pay in mechanical expenses and bodywork. I think everyone has to do a tradeoff that suits them. Prices of these Firebirds vary from country to country and the labor work for bodywork, paint or mechanics if you can't do that yourself is different in every country too, even within the same country. That's why I haven't done nor planned to do a pricing video on my KITT, because for me the answer is: it depends. ...and mine doesn't even have a KITT dashboard... :-D Ultimately, there are so many different factors that come together that it's almost impossible to gauge what a KITT replica costs on average. Just a small info regarding the bonnet: This bonnet with the hoodscoop was the 82-84 Trans Am. The Trans Am's design was slightly changed in 1985 with a different bonnet and it wasn't until 1987 that this exact bonnet came back in the Firebird Formula until the end of the generation in 1992.

In the pilot episode Kitt had the ground effects in some episodes it doesn't depending on the scene. It depends on personal taste my car has them . Your car looks great. It is amazing that you have been able to do so much to your car in such a short period I have been working on mine for way longer due to finances but I will finish him soon.Great video.

I think I'd be fairly happy just to buy the basic black Firebird & make it look right on the outside. One time I had a lot more than the £30k.I might as well have done this project rather than made a bad investment with an untrustworthy property developers to whom I lost nearly the above figure. One thing that would put me off is the left hand drive. Do you find this a problem here in the UK? Did you say you found your car in the UK?

Takes a bit of time to get used to it but after a couple of short drives I was fine.yes I bought the car in uk in may 2019 and took me 17 months to finish. I sold my first kitt though in 2021 and I'm now building another new kitt 👍

I would say that the formula hood makes 50% of the visual effect. It looks so damn good, and much better than the vents on the Trans-Ams. I would just buy a black formula, slap the correct wheels on it, and let the electronic gizmos be what they feel like.

There is a place on eBay that is seems to be very popular that has a lot of the knight rider equipment bumpers scanners all dashes electrical in Italy you might check that out if you haven’t already

yes there are a lot of parts on ebay but you have to be careful where you order from because there are some sellers out there that are not to be trusted. I went direct to the sellers to order all my parts for my build after doing research and finding out the ones that are good and the ones to stay away from.

I was told between $28,000 and $40,000 to build a Screen Accurate K.I.T.T Since I hated the T Top version Mine would be a Hard Top with ALL Black interior. Because I hated the Tan seats. The issue I had with the 90’s Made for TV Movie called Knight Rider 2000 was the car was Red when it should have been the same Black Paint as on the Original K.I.T.T.

That amount would certainly be enough to build you a kitt. I would say $40k is a safe number. It's slightly more expensive here in the uk because good transams are hard to find and also we have to pay import duties and hefty postage costs on everything we order for the build. My new kitt would have cost me around £34k ($40k USD) by the time I'm done. Give or take a little. It's more about the time it takes as suppose to the build costs. A lot of the jobs are time consuming that's all but of course it's still a fair bit of money though. My estimates are based on myself doing all the fitting out though so if you paid someone to do most things on the build the cost could be at least 30 - 50% more

Hey just wanted to correct some info the car from the show was based on a Trans Am and not the firebird model, in 1984 they offered 2 types of Trans Am's one without a body kit and one with a body kit I actually one basic Trans Am and sold it to buy the one with the body kit maybe because it was a mid 84 change because in 85 they all had the ground effects kit(body kit) my second 84 was a black and gold Recaro edition. Also the differences from firebird to Trans Am was the suspension TA's had the WS6 suspension and firebirds had non performance stuff

KITT was an 82 Trans-Am, not firebird. Its just Trans Ams didnt have any body kit bits in 1982 😉

I will be honest, finding these were not easy. They rarely ever come up and when they do everyone wants them. I got mine from ebay US and they were in very good condition but you do pay a premium for them as they rarely come up for sale in the saddle tan color like mine

hey love your build really nice am still working on my KITT just wondering about your front bumper its really nice am re designing mine and was wondering if you could help me out and give me mesurments from the center point of the hood point to the point of the flat surface where the scanner sits and from there to the pointy nose basicly how far the nose is to the hood tip i want to get my season 4 look like yours my favorite 😀 if you can would give me stuff to do these crazy times thanks!!!

I am confused , when I first started watching this video it looks like the dashboard and driving seat is on the wrong side , is this because it is a UK version ? Or is it just the camera reversing the camera angle ? Which side was the original dashboard and driving position on , the left or right side ? and does it match the true driving position as the USA knight rider show as K.I.T.T ?????

Great video but the 1982 trans am had small ground effect pieces at the bottom of the quarter panels in front of the rear wheels and a ground effect in the bottom of the front fenders in front of the front wheels.also the air extractors in the fenders were correct only on the 82-84 trans am.the 85 to 90 air extractor vents are not the kitt type.

You can use any car you wish but if you want it to look like the car from the tv show then it has to be a 3rd generation firebird. 1982 - 1992 👍

Chris Blasius has a video he posted on youtube in 2017 title "How much does a replica cost" lots of information out there, No body knows the true cost it will take to build a replica, all Vendors sells for different prices, there use to be a guy that sold knight rider dash for $400, and others that sells the dash for $900 shipping included then there is others that sell the dash for $1600. then the scanner between $440-800

Yeah I did see that video when I was doing research for my own build and yes he does give a bit of information but I didn't think it was very detailed. That's why I made this video and covered specific things and went into a lot of detail about things and prices of the individual parts of the car. With regards to prices, you generally get what you pay for. Anything which is customized like the kitt electronics generally are quite expensive if you want quality. If there is a guy selling good knight rider dashboards for $400 please drop the link I would love to know. 😁👍 The new dash I'm going to buy is $4k+ and that's just the front dash and gullwing, that's not including the upper and lower console as they are staying as they are brand new 👍
