Simply Samson That's unusually inexpensive. $125. For our basic vet. $700. For the emergency/serious injury or illness vet. $100. For the chiropractor. $40. For the farrier.(no shoes) Soon he will need his teeth checked and I haven't priced it out yet. Then add feed and treats. Other various expenses. Salt and minerals. Probiotics, wormer, shots, joint supplement, ext. All new tack because he's built differently from the thoroughbreds I had before deciding on an arabian.

Great video. My dog (labrador retriever) is about $125 per month. That includes food/training treats, grooming, balls, vet bill averaged for the year. It doesn't include replacing occasional damaged items as a result of my inattention to putting things away. I'm buying a little house on 4 acres and have always dreamed of my own horse again. I am planning a two year readiness for this, to get riding fit as well. Thanks for the breakdown on prices. I would think the horse can also eat grassy pasture as well?

It's always been a dream of mine to have my own horse, but no one has ever expounded on the expense. They just push me off by saying "Expensive!" Apparently the Equus Club is exclusive! If you don't put shoes on your horses, where do you ride your horses? Everything I've ever studied about horses says that horses need to be shod to be on pavement.

My horse blows my budget monthly but I don't care. Meaning I spend more than half my budget on him. That's if nothing goes wrong that costs extra.

I have two horses and we pay about 250 for both in total each month since we don’t board.... prices here are cheaper holy cow.. expect when the farrier comes that’s hundrends out of my pocket.

A Kae I don't have money for lessons and all the places around me require you to bring your own horse for lessons and your own horse if you want to even work there. So I can't even work a barn mucking stalls without my own horse

If yourvhorse is shod and you do a lot of road work then you will wear out shoes quickly

One horse is perfect if you board. But if you own land then it's best to have at least two so they have company. Horses are herd animals and need to be around other horses.
