New construction is more energy efficient? That depends. I know for a fact that living in a 100 year old adobe house means that it keeps cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter due to its thick walls adobe construction (given your windows are newer;)

You’re absolutely right! Authentic adobe construction has been proven over time, and those thick walls do an amazing job of keeping homes cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, especially with newer windows. While we love the timeless appeal of adobe, energy efficiency goes beyond just the walls. The roof material, windows, doors, and modern heating and cooling systems all play a huge role in the overall efficiency of a home. If you combine the charm of adobe with these modern energy-efficient technologies, it’s hard to beat! Thanks for sharing your insight!

The cost of living is so insane here I’m looking at buying a house in Clovis instead (Clovis is a Midwestern/Texan dumpy town that’s still technically in New Mexico). I love Santa Fe so much but housing prices here are so ridiculous. Even a modest home here is in the millions and a run-down shack costs $400k minimum. I don’t want to be a renter until I die.

Cost of living is a serious consideration. But realty of the costs are exaggerated greatly. You can buy a nice home, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, in good shape, with a yard for $400K. $400K doesn’t just buy you a shack here. That’s not reality. Thats being sensational.

Wow! Santa Fe is dirt cheap compared to where I live in California!!!! Thanks for the great content!
@brightharbor_4 ай бұрын
You must be on the coast or in the Bay Area. Prices in Santa Fe now are more expensive than in places like Sacramento or Imperial County. This video is a few years old…things have changed. It’s just as expensive as Cali now.

Thanks for the comment! Santa Fe can definitely seem more affordable compared to many parts of California. We’re glad you enjoyed the content-thanks for watching!

Thanks for your comment! While prices in Santa Fe have gone up over the years, it’s still not remotely as expensive as major parts of California, especially coastal areas or the Bay Area. Santa Fe remains relatively affordable compared to those regions. We appreciate you watching!

I was expecting higher costs. Austin is much more expensive.
