Great video but you are no average Joe...Jesse is just a beast!!!!!

Really interesting comparison. Would be cool to see power meter of each other to see how much burst effort and sustained effort.

It's definitely him pedalling like a maniac, but he also comes incredibly fast out of every corner and preserves the speed so well.

Great video Alex, I think it highlights that although the time difference seems quite big, you should be proud of what you achieve. Pros at that level and Richie’s level, get the support from teams and sponsors to enable them to train in the gym and on the bike at a level that privateers just can’t consistently. I think this enables them to be able to ride with that aggression and intensity for whole stages, and that riding at that level isn’t necessarily them just throwing caution to the wind, it’s just that they are as comfortable at that pace as you are when your pushing on, and that’s down to consistently riding/training at those higher intensities. That’s my take on it anyway, I might be way off. 🤷♂️

You have to think about how they won on the regional scene before all the sponsorships. Some people just have better reflexes and more relentless and/or willing to risk more and push the pace

Absolutely insane! Cool to see though. Crazy, it’s like he is doing interval sprint intensity except for the entire track

Glad I got to head down to the valley and do a spot of spectating this weekend! Such tight racing, and the fastest I've ever seen riders hit the trails! Love this comparison and commentary Alex - great analysis!!

First of - your not an average Joe, I am 🙂 I can't even break into top 50 on my locals (strava) and i built the God dam things... loving the insight and comparison I'd be lucky to keep up with your dust so the elite must be insanely fast, good luck for the season Alex 👍

Love these comparison videos! Very informative. Please keep them coming. I wonder if Jesse would do a collaborative video where you guys watch the footage and discussed the differences. It would be interesting to hear his perspective on the comparison too.

Great video's, I wonder if Jesse does the same with his post race analysis, like get richy rude's footage and what Jesse sees in comparison to us mere mortals. Keep up the great content.

Great video Alex. I just came across it and will look for more. Jessie is my guy, but now I need to get a Canyon bike and sell my Altitude:(

Good to watch the side by side, amazing how fast you are both riding through the tight trees, but yeah, for me it has to be the acceleration from the start line and out of corners.

that was a quality comparison.... I'd say it's fitness, strength and determination to win that sealed that one for Jesse. Seems like Jesse has been traning hard this winter. Weight training, squats and deadlifts bring that power! The more time an athlete has to train the better they all do - Having a Personal Trainer helps. Thanks for the video and well done for only being 21 seconds behind Jesse - I'd be a couple of minutes! 😱

I found rhis really interesting comparison and i know your defo no average rider . These guys are going 110 percent on every stage and its incredible. To put this in perspective i would say im a very average rider and in 2014 the longest stage was Lang Whan fron Gt mast in to peebles. Curtis keen had the fastest time on strava segment. My time was exactly Double of Curtis ! I know that trail like the back of my hand and i was Double the time. These guys are unbelievable to watch and you are not far behind so dont beat yourself up .

There is a reason for why Jesse and other riders like him get paid to ride bikes. They are just rally good on bikes, and bike racing.
