What I earn, what I spend and how much I save on my ALT salary in Japan!
(I recorded this video a few months ago but was only able to upload it now so here are a couple of updates:
-The (new) Social Pension and Health Insurance is around 30,000 JPY.
-I'm celebrating crossing 300 subscribers instead of 100, so THANK YOU GUYS!

Hi thank you for the video. Really appreciate you laying out all the details like that. A small video I would like to give is, which supermarkets you use and what time and what kind of deals do you search for. Might help quite a few. Again have a great day ahead :)

Salaries in Japan are pretty low already with tax reduction it's even lower. I'm working as an engineer and my salary total was like 230k per month and i had to pay for my rent which was like 80k yen per month. I'm planning to quit and leave japan for good by next month and go back to Saudi Arabia were salaries are much higher.

I've heard it's pretty tough for us engineers out there. Still planning to work in Japan down the line, for now, certainly getting my experience and stacking up while in the US.

True. You have to stay at a company for many years as your salary increases annually. That being said, I think Japanese people are also realising that they can earn more/better salaries overseas and some are starting to leave Japan.

You're getting bilked. I make 3X that teaching in China, and I typically only work around 20 hours a week. Japan is lovely. I worked there for three years; I get the appeal, but it's just not a good deal from any sensible financial point of view.

@@shivaasaemeow5771 Yeah, I respect that. I get it. I stayed in Japan for three years because I loved the natural beauty, cleanliness and politeness of the people, and the sense of adventure. China is comparatively (much) dirtier and noisier, but I can't say no to the easy schedule and financial compensation, and it's damn sure a lot of fun.

She lives in a city so her average rent would be 40-50K per month and about 20K for utilities which equals to 60-70K. So I think she's in an okay range.
