No, you don't need to pay another sevis fee.

Your SEVIS fee is valid for 1 year after/from payment date. If you are reapplying within that year, then you do not need to pay again. But if the SEVIS fee is way past the valid period - you’d have to pay again.

You are welcome 🤗. The interview Q & A is like a conversation, the VO asks the questions, you answer leaving no important information out. 8k is still a deficit, and still needs to be defended during the interview. Whatever deficit one has, there has to be a plan or money set aside to cover that.

If you are planning on submitting your sponsor’s bank statement, then your sponsor should have a bank statement that covers your deficit. If you plan on sponsoring yourself, have your deficit in your bank statement. NOT OTHERWISE!

Those visa agents are rippers. Best advice I’d give anyone, is to do the entire process yourself without any agents. So, yes - I’d advise someone to process their visa without involving any agent.

The only reason why the sponsor has to sign on the i20 is if he/she is below 18, and that’s not to indicate approval to sponsor. Give the right information please.

Yes, you can use your step dad as your sponsor. As long as you let the school know he’s your step dad, and at your interview yes, you would have to proof your relationship with him, either via word of mouth or you might be asked to provide documentation (which is highly unlikely).
