Thanks Dave! This video really highlights the difference between the older gen Hilti impact and the new Neuron gen impact. The newer version definitely seems to be an improvement. I have a simple suggestion regarding driving in lag bolts into wood which you typically do when you test impact guns and drill drivers. Use a washer! It will prevent you from over driving the head into the soft wood, and more importantly, you'll know exactly when the head makes contact with the washer so you know your done with the test. Give it a try and you'll see exactly what I mean. Otherwise, great video as always!

What some people don't understand about Hilti tools is, Hilti doesn't focus of being the fastest and most powerfull. They focus on durability and quality of the tool. They last forever. Thats why i love Hilti. Their batteries are made by Panasonic, so then you know they are good.

Milwaukee impact has durability, quality, faster and less expensive theyre impact is also 3 years older. All this talk about Neuron and new tools and batteries, and still cant beat a 3 year old tool which is cheaper in price. What would be the incentive to choose Hilti impact over Milwaukee?
@robertrada4783
@robertrada4783 2 жыл бұрын
@@deanstaysthrsty7120 I know a good amount of impacts from the inside out. Conveniently, this includes the Milwaukee and new Hilti. Milwaukee has a lot of build quality things I scoff at. Hilti has a lot of build quality things I would praise. Putting other brands into the mix, the Milwaukee and Hilti are on opposing ends on the build quality scale. What does that matter to the consumer? Well, nothing if they like the Milwaukee and it doesn’t break. I have a lot of end user experience criticisms with Nuron and this impact driver. You end up making a lot of sacrifices battery size to battery power. The 8ah is too big for the tool, so you give up power to go to the 4ah, but the 4ah has weird balance issues on the impact, so you give up even more power and use the 2.5ah 18650 pack (which is bigger than say a Bosch 4ah 21700, btw). On the flip side, the Hilti is much nicer control wise with the Milwaukee being probably the worst at it. That’s work dependent. If you’re running giant torx screws in all of the time on first fix type work, you may prefer the Milwaukee (or Dewalt). If you use an impact driver with visible fasteners and god forbid they’re Phillips…well…you might prefer something like the Hilti or the Makita. They all get the job done. Most of it is personal preference.

@@deanstaysthrsty7120 I have a 5 gallon bucket filled with dead dewalt and Milwaukee cordless tools before I switched to hilti three years ago. In that time I have only killed one hilti drill. My experience with a pile of their dead competitiors vs a single dead hilti leads me to think hilti is better, but I'm sure others experience different. I treat my tools like tools, not toys and they have very hard lives.

Exactly this, I was looking into investing in some Hilti tools but when I discovered you could only get them from Hilti themselves, here in the UK , it was a pass from me, aside from the fact companies like to take our already extortionate "value added" tax rate of 20 percent and double it, when they do their exchange rate calculations, making Hilti tools ridiculously expensive, Hilti management on this side of the pond are just greedy, chasing short term profit bonuses, by hiking prices at the expense of long term customer support, not that they care they'll probably just move onto another company and do the same to them. Because You cant get them from competing construction industry retailers, you can never find any bargains when they have competing sales or want to get rid of stock, like you can with other tools manufactures. People say they're more reliable but their warranty is the same 3 years as other mid to high end tool manufactures, it only works out as a lifetime guarantee, if you have a large company and can afford their fleet management service, soon they will become a subscription only company, which only very large construction and tool hire companies will be able to afford to use. USE mind, not actually Own !

I guess never say never, but the business model isn’t designed to target a handy man or a homeowner shopping a big box store. The business model is a direct sales force selling solutions to large contractors. All the tools are designed with purposes in mind, and being the fastest or most powerful out of the box hasn’t necessarily been the goal. Before nuron the cordless platform was almost an after thought, the power tools is where they played until this launch.

I assume the Nuron battery model numbers indicate the battery's watt-hours (Hilti's websited doesn't say much about battery capacity). So is the B 22-55 battery 55 Wh (2.5 Ah), with the B 22-255 being 255 Wh (11.6 Ah)? So it looks like 55 Wh for $84, 85 Wh for $114, 170 Wh for $174, and 255 Wh for $204? This compares to M18 single battery prices 54 Wh (CP3.0) for $119 (or two for $129), 144 Wh (8.0) for $199, and 216 Wh (12.0) for $249. Yes, your average consumer can get better discounts on Milwaukee batteries and combo kits, but the Nuron battery pricing seems like a nice surprise. Unfortunately, I can't justify adding another battery platform right now.

Whether it’s the focus of Hilti or not, speed does effect perception of Hilti’s work capacity. And Hilti always seems a tad slower than more commonly available box store brands that the “Professionals” they are targeting shop at. It’s one thing to convince some number cruncher to go with fleet management. Another thing to get a laborer to work slower on purpose.

Hey Dave, I'm really looking forward to seeing the Nuron hammer drill go up against everything else. I'm really curious about the ft. lbs. of torque that's stated for the Hilti. It doesn't seem like it has nearly as much as the Milwaukee or Flex. I can't seem to find the tec data in torque on the DeWalt Flexvolt Advantage. Looking at getting one myself this week. So far I've managed to get the SC 4WL 22 6 1/2 circ saw and impact. I'm really geeked out on all of this Hilti Nuron. They have by far become my favorite tool company now. Wish they would get a woodworking division though. Could you imagine a Hilti Nuron 12inch compound sliding miter saw? whoa!

The lights on the battery and on the drills ( at least on the screw gun ) seem to come on and stay on too long and drain the batteries. I can't get more than 30 minutes of work out of the smaller battery. Even the 4amp won't last me all day surprisingly. I previously had DeWalt and the 3 amp battery would go all day for me. I bought 2 2amp, and 2 4 amp with the set I got so I don't think they're dud batteries, but maybe. Has anyone else found they drain fast?

In my opinion they should have never made the 4, should have stuck with the 5.2 5.2 would have been better for hammer drill as it drains from heavy drilling As for the battery lights I don’t mind them and the batteries last decent for the impact. But I don’t think it’s any better than old platform.

Still you said in the video, that Hilti did not have a tool for them. But they did. Just not an impact driver, but an impact wrench. And that is for the obvious reason, that no professional user would use a driver for that application. Plus, Hilti‘s drivers are still more focussed on driving their own anchors and nuts, because Hilti is a solution supplier. No other brand that I know of would not only sell you the tool and inserts, but also the anchors, screws, etc.
