1:23 Doka does not mean double, it is an abbreviation of DOppelKAbine literally translated as double cabin. 3:43 Not even Mercedes gives you a gas mileage. As this is a tool they give you fuel consumption per hour because you might want to set it up as a timber mill via the various PTOs.

A Unimog is not a Porsche so get over it, but off road they are great. I live in mine full time traveling to remote locations all over Australia and love it.

I got to meet Tanner at a VW event at the tail of the dragon called Wookies in the Woods a few years ago. Was a super cool guy that just loves driving.

I drove unimogs in an MPV cofiguration and it did 130 km/hr back in the 70s and 80s.

The Germans have just perfected offroading in every regard.. The Austrians with their Puch G and Pinzgauer platform and the Germans with the Unimog. Nothing will ever be as good as those vehicles off-road.

In Europe they're used as farm vehicles for working on farms

Which is what the Unimog was made for. It was meant as a combination of tractor and truck, so farmers could do farm work as well as transporting fertilizer and what they produce on their fields.

@@Astrofrankand take the wife to town mate, also when they were first made Germany wasn't allowed to build anything military so they were a bit of a loophole as wouldn't take much to convert

The first Unimog from Mercedes Benz was introduced 1950 here in Stuttgart/Germany. That is 73 years back. Not hundred years ago. ;-) I worked from 1974 on 44 years until retirement 8 years ago for Mercedes-Benz and the Mog is the product i am most proud of. It started as an agrarcultural machine, but today it is working mostly in puplic servie, firefighters and military services.

The tracks they go on with the Mogs are much too easy for the Mogs. No challenge for them.

Terribly overrated a d i erpriced for what most privately owned ones are used for in the uk...i.e. tree surgery. And that aim of 50mph on road is frankly nonsense unless downhilm with the wind behind you in all but the biggest engines ones.
