What a wonderful writer Leo Tolstoy was. One of my favourite stories.

Oh, lordy! He was one handsome man and no mistake, and a fine actor to boot!

This was the first episode of the series, originally syndicated in January 1953. One of the show's regional sponsors was the F.& M. Schaefer Brewing Company, in New York [the opening and closing sponsor I.D.s are missing from this print]. Other sponsors that Menjou personally delievered commercials for during the program were Blatz Beer in Milwaukee, Genesee Beer in upstate New York, Smithfield Packing in Norfolk, Va. {Smithfield bacon, barbecue meats}- and Tums in Chicago and St Louis.

TV adaptation of ZIV's popular syndicated 1946-'49 radio series (with Ronald Colman as host). This lasted 78 episodes, with several filmed in color. Adolphe Menjou's first series for ZIV was a daily informal 15 minute "chit-chat" radio show {featuring his wife, Verree Teasdale}, "MEET THE MENJOUS", in 1950 and '51. After "FAVORITE STORY" ended its run, he hosted another ZIV syndicated anthology, "TARGET" (1958-'59, 39 episodes).

The writers of this were Lawrence and Lee who would go on to write such classic Broadway shows as "Auntie Mame" and "Inherit the Wind" just to name a couple of their many classics plays.

Raymond looked so skinny, though he was still a big guy.
