I want to do an inventory next year to keep myself accountable. I know my numbers but seeing them on the page is a different thing entirely. I am glad you are counting those samples and going through them and seeing the numbers drop is so satisfying. I am doing the same with lipstick samples. My areas I have gone up are blushes and eyeliners. I am back on a blush no buy. I think the key is balance and not being too restrictive but knowing what needs to be worked on.

They are a great practice so you can see everything broken down and in comparison. I recommend writing everything down for yourself for sure 😊 and I completely agree, finding balance and keeping tabs on numbers is the key!!

Wow, you may be the first beauty influencer that have collection comparable to mine in size or even smaller in some categories! I absolutely love it, as I feel sick of seeing humongous barely used collections of makeup, sitting in drawers and getting expired. I acquired quite a lot during covid, but now feel pretty overwhelmed and hungover from overspending. It is really not that much, but still too much for a person with just one face. I'm trying to use up, pan and declutter my collection to the managable size (I mean... eight powders... six foundations........ three bronzers even though I really don't use bronzers.............) Sorry for such a long comment, I'm just thrilled to find someone with actually reasonable and clearly loved collection 💫 New sub!

Next to acquired/emptied/decluttered you could create a column called „shifted“ and put +1 or -1 in there depending on whether you shifted a product into or out of that category from/to another category in your inventory ☺️ as a suggestion for the future

I never use my lip liners either so this year I started using them as all-over lip colors - I recategorized them as lip pencils in my inventory. Because of this I went through one really fast and ended up finishing it this year! Maybe that would be helpful for you too?

I like to line my entire lips when I wear lip gloss. I realized I don't need to wear them with lipstick(unless it's red) but I like them with a gloss.

So many singles might sound scary but honestly to me these numbers equate for example to not that many eyeshadow palletes, and adding the variety and customization you can have with singles, it's almost like a category with completely different properties compared to the others. So nearly 100 single eyeshadow pans is totally different to..so many other categories haha! The samples category is a great idea, probably the best way to group together various items with so little product in each like that blister pack!

I would love to hear about your “dream numbers.” For example, my dream collection would include 3 foundations, 5 blushes, 5 lipsticks, etc. Have you mentioned your goals in any of your videos? If not, can you please include those in your next video. I very much appreciate your feedback on this because I am trying to narrow down my collection also and am trying to have a “goal” for myself and I am having difficulty with this. Lol

Hi there!! I have mentioned in previous inventories I don’t set “goal” numbers for myself. I really just want to see how my collection changes based on my current mindset and keep tabs on where I am. I don’t have particular numbers in mind but I do know that many of my categories are more inflated than I’d like. I am just using and consuming more consciously and maybe one day I’ll have my collection at a size I’m really happy with but no end goal in mind. Hope that makes sense!

And regarding the auric glow lust I would say that it depends on how you use it! I primarily mix it in with foundations to make them more glowy & I would like to remember to reach for it as more of a highlighter so I would probably categorize it as a highlighter also :)

I feel like the Auric Glow Lust could go in either category, so I’d put it in the category you use it as most. If I had that product I’d use it mostly as a glowy primer, so I’d count it in my primer category

Usually once the formula starts getting flaky or is harder to apply on the lashes - requires lots of building or feels like the wand is bare - that means it’s either drying out or there is not much product in the packaging! Hope that makes sense 😊

Loving makeup isn’t about loving acquiring makeup. I feel like I speak about that often and even in this video in different words. You can love the act of creating, applying, testing and even owning without having to purchase in excess. I think the idea of a collection like my own as “boring” is an opinion you are welcome to have, but the size of my collection is irrelevant of being on KZbin. This collection is larger than what I NEED as a person. I sit down in front of a camera 1-2 times a week but I own this makeup 100% of the time of my actual real life. My reasoning for even sharing my makeup journey on this platform is because at one point I did normalize large collections because it was what I saw on KZbin. But it is very unattainable and completely excessive for the average person, like myself.“Normal” consumers are valid in this space too and can even love makeup as much, or more, than those with large collections.
