I just noticed a major issue with my video. I forgot my gumroad course sales is included in the stripe revenue charts, so subtract the $9k from sponsored videos section. I didn’t even think about social security tax and Medicare taxes which is an additional 12.4% and 2.9%, so the final numbers are $58k for sponsored videos, taking the total to $87,818 revenue; subtract $14,654.66 for federal income tax, subtract $10,889 for social security tax, and subtract $2,546 for medicare. So my new total is $59,729 after taxes 🤷♂ If I'm in jail next year it's because I calculated this wrong 🤣

one should not forget that it's your experience in your job that gave you enough knowledge to share at the first place in here, if people are surprised with the 100k, it actually the byproduct of other things and not just this year, it's the same reason why I don't think things wouldn't have gone the same way for junior devs, it would be a different thing where they learn more than they share.

Congrats on the results man, It's cool to see that this platform gives decent chances of growth to creators that do something different than mainstream content. Honestly I thought that a YT channel with 175k subs would pay much less than that. I have extentive experience in multimedia production and thought about content creation for so many years (7-8 at least) but what stopped me so far was the idea that you would not get decent money before you get 7 figure subscribers and views... and this is mainly because nobody shows sponsorship income. Now thanks to this video I know I could make a decent amout of money even if I do more niche stuff than the average gaming youtuber. Thank you)

I know you're probably a sde2 or a senior sde like me making between 125-175k a year. Think about it, you could EASILY go full time youtube. I'm going to lay this out with a simple diagram of hours worked and income: 1-2 hours == 100k | (YT & SaaS) 8 hours == 130-180k | (9-5 job) Imagine you quit your job, you now have 4-8 TIMES the amount of hours you can put towards YT and other things. If you do that you're gonna easily break what you were making at your job. All you have to do is believe in yourself. You got this.

@WebDevCody10 ай бұрын
Yeah you can do direct deposits, but often then conpanies ask to get in their HR payroll system which delays everything. I once had to wait 45 days to get payment, so now instead I say I only accept payment over stripe and you must pay before I make anything

Hey Cody, a fellow KZbinr here! I’m in the same niche, but absolutely clueless about the rates I should be charging for sponsored videos (let’s say with a ~1 ad break or using the sponsor’s platform for the video). What would you suggest my rate should be for such an ad campaign, given my channel size and total monthly views of ~150k? Also, do you think I should prefer product placements to affilite links or vice versa? I’d appreciate your input 🙌 Keep up the great work!❤
@WebDevCody10 ай бұрын
I only do yt shorts and dedicated videos. For dedicated videos id take your average views (omit outliers) for the past couple of videos and times it by $0.66 per view. I don’t do affiliate links, I find them pointless. I don’t do integrated 60-90 second ads because I don’t like them 😂
