I am a certified high school teacher and licensed massage therapist who closed a small massage business and is now working as an employee again. YOU NAILED THIS VIDEO! It took me forever to locate a video that offers more balanced and realistic information about massage pay! Thank you!

Massage therapy does not bring in enough to split between the MT and a business owner. Renting space also takes too much . If one can carve out a home studio such as a basement , back room with private bath and entrance or accessory space like a garage it would be best. Unless one has a spouse or someone to share expenses renting space or having an employer equals poverty in this business.

Regarding the marketing of massage and income ratio, I have high-end clients because that's the demographic I target. Now, I haven't broken down what I take after expenses, so this video provides great insight into a system I could use. Thank you for posting.

Wonderful video! Thank you so much. I am just beginning my journey in massage therapy school and have been very curious about what life right out of school could look like.

LOL! Don't mean to scare you away from it, but it's definitely important to weigh the realistic expectations to see if you're ready to take that on because....whew! It's A LOT 🙃

Maybe I missed something but if there's so much risk and not much profit then why would one want to be a massage employer? They aren't getting into it for nothing. You kinda make it sound like they end up with crumbs after all the business costs, and if that's true then why are so many people trying to get into it?

To be honest, a lot of people start hiring without realizing the reality of how it all plays out financially. The surface level numbers can look good and be quite deceiving, and they simply don't run their own numbers in any kind of detail. Obviously, with certain strategies, pricing, and pay models, owners can make good money...but not many are able to get to that point. There's also a fine balance of taking care of your employees well and not running yourself into the ground financially; that's a very hard balance for many people to find.

Great info. However your message comes across as an emotionally charged rant.
