Here is how it was explained to me. The arbitrators pick a bunch of dates that they're available to hear our case. Then management and the union have to agree on which of those dates they can both meet for. Management has absolutely no incentive to meet quickly. They don't pay interest or penalties on the money they owe us so it's an interest free loan from their employee's. If we have a contract by the end of this year I would consider that a win. Remember it was over 500 days for our last contract which was agreed to 3 days before the arbitrators decision. Then you have to consider that each contract cycle for the last 5 contracts has gone about 2 months longer than the previous cycle and we're looking at Nov/Dec. Backpay wouldn't be until Around April next year.

It is so incredibly frustrating that our union leadership appear to not listen to our concerns nor do they adapt to the current conditions. They are stagnant. They have forgotten who they work for!! Time to send them all back to carrying mail. Though I doubt that they will do that, they will more than likely jump to management or retire. There is no logic for every single contract negotiations to last this long!! There really is not that much change from contract to contract!! What has changed is the workroom floor conditions have deteriorated exponentially over the past decade! And our union leadership have been silent. They all need to be booed off the stage at the National Convention and then voted out!! Time for change from our leadership!!

Got some bad news about the back pay situation. If you've read the report from the committee that investigated renfroe then you know that usps is going to be able to make a very credible argument that his shenanigans significantly delayed contract negotiations and the subsequent arbitration.

I calculated my backpay the other day. $.48 COLA back to PP 19-23 Conservative 1.3% General increase back to PP 25-23. I’m step F, so that is $.35. $.17 COLA back to PP 7-24 Assuming they get us 100% COLA across the pay table, it’s proportional currently, it came out to $1,715.98. If the COLA stays the same, it probably goes down to $1,200 or so

Lots of calculations to do with back pay. When we finally get the contract done we are looking at one huge paycheck in the coming months. It's been a year as of today which is 2080 hours. Depending on your pay scale level we are looking at an extra $1500-2500 in the back pay check along with normal paycheck so a paycheck over$4000 will be nice. Be patient. The post office has always been fair in the past.

Oh. I thought this was a slam about holding picnics and conventions when we have backlogged grievances and ongoing abuses. What happens at conventions? Sex, food, and door prizes. That's all I have ever heard about them. smh... Thousands of dollars of membership money spent when we could have sent more stewards to training, gotten our facilities handled, and allocated that money to the food drive, scholarships, or MDA instead of "reports" that Renfroe was evasive, but sounded positive, Barner refused to talk, but made lots of great jokes, and the rest of us had a fun time and can't wait until next year. The same people who went last year and the year before that...

CCAs don’t get COLAs. The most you would get is a general increase in November. Usually 2.1%. So you’re looking at about $.42 increase for every hour since about November 18th 2023. There has been a lot of talk of changing the CCA position, so it may be worth sticking it out until the contract comes out. Good chance starting pay goes up to the $25-$26 range.

I just been a year in but I don’t even understand how anything is negotiated without feedback from the carriers let alone keeping us completely in the dark. I’ve worked other union jobs in the past and nalc is a complete joke. I don’t even see the purpose of being unionized at usps. You get treated like garbage, everything is a fireable offense, wages and benefits are trash. I got two ii’s hanging over my head for 2 years because the supervisor overworked me and the union didn’t do nothing. Im thinking of just leaving the union and just lawyering up if I have to.
