This is really interesting, thank you for uploading these videos! I'm local to Crawley and have been thinking about busking, and whether a busker can earn enough to make their lives a bit easier. Great to see that people are generally receptive and generous

Very nice! Tip: cut low frequencies a little on vocals (if amp allows) and slight low boost guitar. Question: what are the policies on street musicians where you live? Here (Toulouse) they are very music hating and restrictive.

Tim, thank you for this insight to busking, i have just applied for a network rail license to play at stations around London. cany ou help out by advising if there is a map handy, to show where you can/cannot play with amplification on the streets?

Nice one. I'm thinking of busking with my autoharp but I don't sing and I came up with a complex fingerstyle technique. Sounds pretty pleasing to the ear but not sure if my act would be a bit boring.
@BrickMan30223 жыл бұрын
It’s only boring if you make it. I’m not familiar with the autoharp but if you use it to play music associated with a different instrument ( rock, pop, dance), that will turn people’s heads

Hey Tim- Just had a couple of questions in regards to busking. Are there any unspoken rules in terms of claiming spots? What I mean is, if there is another busker that has been playing at a certain location, can I play there the next day if it is available and not have to worry about whether or not he'll show up later? Or will the other busker show up and tell me that he's been playing there for 5 years and I have to get lost? I don't want to step on anyone's toes but also don't want to miss out on the best locations. My 2nd question is when you're playing in front of stores or restaurants, do you need to talk to the store owner first to get permission? Thanks in advance and you sound great!
@BrickMan30223 жыл бұрын
Definitely ask store owners permission, usually they should be okay, but better to ask. If a busker is acting territorial, that’s bad on there part. Just ask nicely and it should be okay. They don’t own the space!

Awesome setup and great performances man. Having an amp and mic would makes things so much easier. It costs $45 upfront then 5 dollars a day to use amplification in NYC. And over 130 pounds is fucking insane! A good day for me is at most like $60! I think I might have to start doing covers. Right now I'm only performing originals. I'm feeling really bitter right now lol.
