Its the nature of the internet to wonder about things that aren't really their business. However since the number is irrelevant to me and allows me to talk about why any persons actual monthly payment is so subjective, lets chat.

What do you mean by a $150k balloon?
@venom5809
@venom5809 7 жыл бұрын
@Tristan Savidge, a balloon payment allows you to get a lower payment on a loan than you would a traditional loan where you are paying it all back. He's paying the loan plus interest minus the $150,000, so at the end of the time he either has to pay $150,000 or he has to sell the car and hope it gets $150,000 to payoff the balloon. It's kind of like a lease in a way.
@kevinjames8050
@kevinjames8050 7 жыл бұрын
"Balloon" means your financing is set up for smaller payments throughout most of the loan period, which is made up for at the end. Let's say your total amount financed is $36k for five years- normally, the payment would be $600/month for 60 months. If you agree to a $6k balloon at the end, your monthly payment would be lowered to $500/month ($30k over 60 months). Younger people might opt for balloon financing on a car if they're just starting out in a career and anticipate their earning potential to rise after a few years, because it lets them finance a car that they can't realistically afford at the time. Normally, this is a REALLY FUCKING STUPID idea, because it essentially guarantees a negative equity position. However, in the special case of exotic cars like Rob's Ferrari which depreciate far more gradually (if at all; sometimes they even go up in value), it might actually make sense to take that money reserved for the balloon payment and invest it. It's all a numbers game concerning opportunity costs.
@Chukuman00
@Chukuman00 7 жыл бұрын
Kevin James so whatever the ballon number is, at the end of the period, I have to hope my car sells as close as possible to that number? And if it sells for less, I have to pay cash to make up for the difference?

demonator65 the intrest is almost non existent. So the bank isnt making much mo oney on the loan. He pays 30% down like most people. He then pays $3300 for 3 years and pays the remainder off in cash instead of taking out a 6 or 7 year loan and having to pay 3300 a month for so many years.

Financially speaking, you really should finance as much of the value of the car as possible. If your investment account can earn a higher rate of return than the financing rate of the auto loan, you're better off financing it. Same with houses, if your mortgage rate is 4-5% and you can earn more than that investing, finance the entire thing. It just a math problem. Rich people finance stuff all the time, because they understand the opportunity cost of money.

While you had some reservations about discussing how much you pay for your cars the video was informative and contained some good information. 3:37 - 4:04 - not getting into a loan who's total cost will exceed the value of the car, and 6:54 - 7:08 - borrowing on low interest even if you can pay cash so you can invest it during that time for a greater return than the interest you will be paying. Thanks for the video!

JP Info speak for yourself my man. I grew up dirt poor, going hungry in, SE KY and now me and my sister own, Par towing, Shine pro’s auto detailing, and southern heritage rehabilitation. We grossed over 1.6 million just last year out of all 3 businesses. Technically we could buy Ferrari’s but we don’t we all have Chargers, Hellcats, Jacked up Dodge trucks, 2 flat beds, a semi wrecker and a ford F550 wrecker. All it takes is true grit and determination to get there but I will say it wasn’t easy, lot of blood, sweat, and tears where shed to get where we are and we still work like dogs but not like we used to. But at least we have a good secure future now for us and our children.

30% down, 3,300/mo for 3 years, plus $150 ballon, so $268,800 + 30% of whatever the price was. If the sticker was $350,000 then the 30% is $105,000 making the total purchase price $373,800. So the cost of ownership will be around $8,000/year (plus depreciation).

A car's cost is simply depreciation + interest + maintenance + insurance. It doesn't matter what the purchase price is, which is what most people ask. The real unfortunate part is that most people don't even know what depreciation even is.

Working at Toyota I’ve seen people with such bad credit they’re paying 35% which is absolutely insane, but that’s what happens when you have a mid 500 credit score. I’m lucky to have a credit score right under 800 because that interest and obviously down payment are huge in the long run as Rob was saying.

I bought a $39,000 car. I have a high 700 credit score(780ish). I wanted $500/mo payments. I put down aprx. $17.5k. I got 1.9% interest on a 3 year loan and I pay $500 per month. It's a math problem. How much down + how much interest / how long = how much per month.

Yea that's a little too heavy for my shoulders. Even my fellow physician friends can't afford such nice amenities. They can if they really wanted to but other priorities in life such as family, mortgage, insurance and vacations take up most of the costs. And tax kills 1/3 of our paychecks. What's left is nowhere enough to support a super car hobby. Thanks for sharing your life with us with candor and honesty.

Man U got screwed on the car it only books for 250k max brand new with all options Plus ttl, They are now at this point 120-150k used but again with 30% down and 3300 plus insurance u are almost at 3800 to 4K per month plus 150k at end of term so looks like you are just leasing the car and not owning it by the last payment If u recall General Motors has the same thing back in the 2001 error and when people found out they was being scammed they dropped the option to all there costumers back in the day, so in any matter if u like it and have the extra 150k take it back But with 90,000 dollars down over 180k in payments plus additional 150k after payments are made (buy back option) that is approximately 400k all said and done pay off with payments and 150k over priced So I would do research before u buy another car, and shop never walk into a place and ask how much is it for that puppy in the window story, because they will get u, including me as I also sell cars to, never and I mean never go to one place just because u got a oil chance there or bought a car from them a while ago, always shop on eBay go to a private 1 owner people don’t realize that u don’t need to shop at any dealership to buy the car if your dreams u can get financing done by a private party as well. Find your dream car, make a deal with them (cash) leave a cash or check deposit with them and go to your bank and give them the vin number or do a credit form on line and watch how the banks rolls in with better interest rates fighting to buy you and not the car, and once u are approved take your check and hand over to the private seller to his bank and title will be sent to your bank right after that simple job (long process but worth the money you will save) and 40% cheaper payments to, Ps- do u know that dealerships will also take a percentage of any banks interested rate that they give you? Oh yes they do, they call that taking points from the buyer Hope this helps everyone out there Dealership inside notes

You couldn't be more wrong. I cant afford a 150k dollar car cash. But I have a 803 credit score and make between 150 to 160 a year and I can easily make a payment on a 150k dollar car. With zero down and low APR%. It makes zero financial sense to pay cash for a car that depreciates so quickly.

I feel like Rob debunked this myth with all those car loans he was talking about lol. If you know how to borrow smart, do it because you'll enjoy life's luxuries a lot more. If you don't know how to, or you can't resist the urge of borrowing more than you can return, don't do it and stick to your idea
@King-2077

jpracingph that’s a myth. Technically if youre making that much, there is no reason to bury all your money in your backyard. It is just like saying, you shouldnt be traveling, or go out every weekend to party and drink or buy other stuff you can enjoy since it is a waste of money. As long as you have enough money for emergency, and for when you become older and for your family everything else is excess. You only live once, you can save all your money all you want but all that money will not go with you after life.
