George's life as a replaceable drone in an over- corporatized world , while played for laughs on the show , remains a potent modernist nightmare to this day. The Jetsons had no contact with the natural world , never even walked on the actual ground within the series. The fears about a growing industrialized world were born right after WW2 , grew through the 50's & flowered in the youth movements of the 60's. There was much more to the Jetsons than a few cartoon laughs.

My son was young so I wasn't thinking about grandchildren. I also didn't think about the Jetsons coming up with the idea.

Don't remember much of the Jetsons, but is there really all taht much that DID come true? The flying cars and all that stuff obviously didn't, no antigavity and such... But no robots either. You may remember the old experiment where rats were given a button that releases food whenever they pressed it , which ended up producing a society of obese lazy rats. The Jetsons was peppered with references to this kind of thing in my view . I think there was more to the writing of the Jetsons than is apparent on the surface.

Theres even a unit called the Jetson One that you can buy and fly without a license... To put my hat on, I think THIS is the kind of stuff "they" are terrified of in the near future, hence the crippling power grab and destruction of the middle class... Im talking about flying cars you can build in your garage for the price of a Tesla... It will be wild. Add to that the biohackers, people ordering CRISP edited yeast online that produces spider silk foe their spiderman dreams to people injecting themselves, again in their garage, with modified viruses that give them better blood-oxygen saturation and you can really start to get the picture....
