When I was a child, shows like The Jetsons and The Flintstones were just reruns and on their way out the door. It's a shame, because I remember some of the episodes I watched as a child. They're from a happier, more civilized time.

If the grid ever goes down, all these modern “conveniences” that we have allowed ourselves to become completely dependent upon will quickly become totally useless. I believe that it might be better for us in the long run to learn/remember how to do things the “old-fashioned way”.
@neondystopian

Unfortunately, that's a particular lesson most people learn only when they have to. Heck, even a lot of us who have prepared for such an eventuality won't really be ready for it when it finally hits.

The Jetsons was made in 1962 but is set in 2062 George (40 years old) was born in 2022 Jane (33 years old) was born in 2029 Judy (15 years old) was born in 2047 Elroy (6 and a half years old) born in 2056 Hanna Barbara made this to show families imagining what the future will look like! I would be in my late 50s and early 60s at the time 2062 comes! Back to the Future predicted what 2015 would look like from 1985 but now that it is 2023, there is no futuristic city with high tech technology like the one in back to the Future but SsniperWolf shows us some cool inventions!

George's life as a replaceable drone in an over- corporatized world , while played for laughs on the show , remains a potent modernist nightmare to this day. The Jetsons had no contact with the natural world , never even walked on the actual ground within the series. The fears about a growing industrialized world were born right after WW2 , grew through the 50's & flowered in the youth movements of the 60's. There was much more to the Jetsons than a few cartoon laughs.

This is hilarious, my co-workers and I were talking about the Jetsons & all the inventions that have come true & what we are still missing. I remember my first trip to Disney World in 1995, they showed the vision of talking on a computer & our watch aka face time & I was thinking why would I want to do that? My son was young so I wasn't thinking about grandchildren. I also didn't think about the Jetsons coming up with the idea.

Don't remember much of the Jetsons, but is there really all taht much that DID come true? The flying cars and all that stuff obviously didn't, no antigavity and such... But no robots either. Rosie would probably react annoyed if you compared her to a Rumba. ^.^ IIRC, most screens on the show weren't flatscreens either, and they were pushing buttons on all those future machines, not touchscreens...

You may remember the old experiment where rats were given a button that releases food whenever they pressed it , which ended up producing a society of obese lazy rats. The Jetsons was peppered with references to this kind of thing in my view . They made jokes about a future of indolence & the lack of physical activity that reflected real doubts about how beneficial technical advancements would be. I think there was more to the writing of the Jetsons than is apparent on the surface.

Instead of just freaking out like a typical lefty, Elroy and Astro immediately started laughing and chanting "look at the shrimp! look at the shrimp!" until George made them go to their room. That's how you toughen a guy up when he's been shrunk down to three inches. George didn't run to any safe space, he stood up straight and laid on the discipline.

@@BettyWhite2171 in the Jetsons, the flying cars were never seen driving on land. So again helicopters or large drones for people would work as flying cars in that universe.

By gosh you’re right ! But I don’t like the thought of thousands of helicopters in the sky at the same time any more than cars.

Flying cars are literally here... From paramotors to some of these electric VTOL man-moving drone copters... I encourage everyone to look up 'personal flight'.... Theres even a unit called the Jetson One that you can buy and fly without a license... To put my hat on, I think THIS is the kind of stuff "they" are terrified of in the near future, hence the crippling power grab and destruction of the middle class... Im talking about flying cars you can build in your garage for the price of a Tesla... It will be wild. Add to that the biohackers, people ordering CRISP edited yeast online that produces spider silk foe their spiderman dreams to people injecting themselves, again in their garage, with modified viruses that give them better blood-oxygen saturation and you can really start to get the picture....

They're here, it's just the way we direct air traffic is so hectic and confusing that we're just not ready to facilitate that type of travel for everyone yet. You can fly some of them without a license for now, but once these things become popular the legislation for regulations and required licensing will start rolling in.

Due to all the "inclusion, AND stolen history of today, we will NEVER see all the innovations of the Jetsons! Why haven't we been back to the moon since 1972, I know but can't tell you why. We, Western Europeans and of European decent, took off and ran, starting in the 1800's through to the 1990's then NOTHING! We innovated and Invented the things we use today! That time is OVER! We have now DUMBED DOWN ALL the people that could've made these things predicted. We, Western Europeans, born in the mid 20th century are getting older and dying off. We are becoming the Luke Wilson movie IDIOCRACY from 2004!

Love those old TV shows. . Has anyone but me noticed that a great majority of commercials these days feature one or more of the following: 1. Use of the word "family." 2. Showing or mentioning dogs (usually showing) regardless of the product. 3. Prescription drugs with side effects. 4. Showing some type of water and mentioning the word "hydrate" 5. References to gastrointestinal issues (everything from probiotics to toilet paper. 6. Showing people wearing some type of colorful workout clothing - frequently some overweight bald guy walking around carrying a clipboard and high fiving everyone he sees for no discernible reason.
