DP is unplayable in a season you want to win big. This is not one of those seasons we should be experimenting with our 2nd RB waiting on him to get it. I'd go with Akers and work in DP.

Are partly agree with you except at this point we don't have the roster spot to hang on to DP with all he's proven. He's indecisive and makes bad decisions. I was a believer in his resurgence but we can't be putting valuable commodities on the practice squad to conserve hopes and prayers towards DP. It's time to cut your losses at some point and keep what you have proven is valuable

What we get to see Akers seems like he gets it. I think Pierce has some ball in him, but not in our system. Like the kid but...

My issue is that people seem to be mentally giving Pierce a clean slate for this season because of what he said in interviews. My issue with that is I'd understand it if we were at least seeing small progress. We're not. This is the exact same Dameon Pierce we saw last season. Not making the right reads and not breaking any tackles like 2022 Dameon was. I understand he said it took him time to understand the system and get his body right. He can say one thing, but my eyes are telling me something different. It feels like we're heading down the identical road of last season where we give Pierce a bunch of excuses until we just give it to the other guy (Singletary last year, Akers this year) and suddenly all those excuses evaporate.

We can only blame so much on the offensive line. Backups will enter the regular season playing against starting caliber defenses as well. We saw Singletary run behind the same offensive line as Pierce last season and look far better. Pierce simply lacks the patience, vision, and cut back ability needed to work in the zone scheme and is more suited to the gap scheme he excelled in as a rookie. At the end of the day, we are looking to win a Super Bowl, and we have backs that look far more talented. We cannot wait and see if DP can pick up this scheme, give the roster spot to another that deserves it and brings something to the table now. Demeco has said these spots are earned, how does it look if he reserves a spot on the roster this year for DP, after making him the starter last year and having a more deserving player sitting behind him? It is time to count our losses and move on. We are talking about a guy that isn’t a 1st rounder and needs to be traded or cut.

The time to be patience is over. It's time to keep the best. Pierce hasn't been close to that. I accepted last year he was just the best player on a bad team when he had his breakout. I'd keep Akers, Jaws, and Dare over him at this point.

I'm sorry but Damian Pierce and Oluwadare should not even be considered on that active of roster.. Cam Akers #2 and British Brooks as #3 after letting them battle it out next game. They need to run British Brooks with the first string and let him play a whole half and then JJ Taylor and DP to see if they should even be considered.. I read some comment here or elsewhere that I was thinking myself. That being, how about British Brooks be used as a fullback to free up space on the 53? He's got the size and we need them on short yardage downs. That dude's gonna get snatched if he's put on the practice squad!

We all like Pearce as a person, but after 2yrs and 2 preseason games he just doesn’t have “it”. We got Mixon, Akers, and 2-3 rookies. Papa Shanahan wouldn’t even consider drafting a RB until day 3. I think we should dump the FB also replaced by a RB or TE doing that blocking and that roster spot. Texans have an embarrassment of riches of talent, some good players just won’t make the team or practice squad. Caserio needs to trade those guys for picks. Day 2 and 3 picks for talent we can’t keep is better than getting no compensation

I cant judge DP on the touches hes received this preseason. A guy getting the ball 3-4 times a game isnt enough. Akers isnt running against 1st team defenders, so I dont like saying Akers is above and beyond DP either. DP needs 10+ touches, with the starters and then I'll put out a fair opinion.

I think we have had a large enough sample size of Pierce and he is very underwhelming. He can’t break a tackle or push for extra yards. I think Akers wins the spot and Pierce should be off the team.
