All you need is a cup of hot water and pour it in the side of the tank and look for the frost line.

It's closer to 3/4 than 7/8. No need to estimate if you've already weighed it. You're missing 5.5lbs of propane from full. 5.5 = 27.5% of 20. 100% - 27.5% = 72.5% propane left. 7\8 would have been closer to 87.5%

Why not just place the tank on a regular weight scale? There's no need to buy a hanging scale.

@theguyofalltrades well that was instituted after a relief valve failed and the tank ruptured and nearly burned down a plant. Their investigation concluded that with the temperature increasing, the liquid attempted to turn to gas increasing the tank pressure to the breaking point, and then the relief valve failed to relieve the pressure resulting in the tank rupturing when being moved and the forklift moving it igniting the escaping propane.

that math you doin is kinda goofy my friend. if 38lbs is full, -18= 20 38-34=4 4-20 =16 lbs of propane 16/20 reduced 4/5ths full

Still wrong. It was 32.45. (32.45 * 100)/38 = 89.394 4/5 would be 30.4 pounds

​@theguyofalltrades I love the video, but you both are doing the math funky. (32.45*100)/38 doesn't account for the tank weight. I only want to know how much propane I have. 32.45-18=14.45 14.45/20=.7225 That tank is 72.25% full or in fractions is just under 3/4 full.
