I am part of the 0.1%! I really appreciate the shoutout for that, because although these conditions are rare, dysautonomia (and similar types of conditions) can really impact the daily life of students like myself. It's important to listen to your body and take care of yourself, whatever that means for your system. Again, thank you-- it is nice to know KZbinrs like yourself acknowledge this and actually care about the information and research being described.

Personally, I think the best way to ensure you're drinking enough water is just to always have a bottle of water within reach. That way you can easily drink whenever your thirsty, and you don't fall into the trap of "oh but I'd have to go to the kitchen and get a glass and fill it with water and oh well I might as well just finish this first and ah oops now it's 8 hours later and I haven't had anything to drink".

I'm glad you included the .1% as i have a chronic illness that causes chronic dehydration (i'm literally on IV fluids daily), and was going to leave an annoying comment. one other thing, some people's thirst manifests in hunger, so sometimes you think you're hungry, but you're actually thirsty, so be mindful. also, if you're depressed, tired all the time, have acne, get dizzy, etc., then drink water. I'm a water junkie and have been for years, so I'd say it's usually better to drink too much than not enough.

Except in that .1% of the time you're risking hyponatremia.

QuesoCookies the infusions that i recieve daily are lactated ringers (saline with electrolytes), i replace .5L of my water intake every day with Gatorade, and i eat a high salt low carb diet, all to balance out the fluid intake i need to keep my symptoms from being debilitating.
@QuesoCookies
@QuesoCookies 6 жыл бұрын
I understand you're already in a situation with abnormal hydration needs; I'm just concerned about making the statement "It's usually better to drink too much than too little," because that's an easy slope to slip down. Someone with a compulsive disorder or body dysmorphic athletes (a different subset of the .1%) would take that and run with it. Best to err on the side of mindfulness than excess.
@alyssam8550
@alyssam8550 6 жыл бұрын
QuesoCookies it is possible to suffer both dehydration and hyponatrimia at the same time, and from a quick Google search it's easy to see that dehydration is more prevalent and more dangerous, and it is much easier to become dehydrated than over-hydrated in 99% of situations. i do understand your concern and would hope that people would not just read a single youtube comment before drinking excessive amounts of water, but I'm more concerned that people would watch a video like this and go: "oh, I'll automatically drink enough water, i don't need to be mindful of my intake" than those who will read my comment and think the opposite.

Quality Video as always. On the topic of hydration I actually drink a glass of water the moment I wake up in the morning (I place it beside my bed). I picked up the habit few years ago after reading many succussful people choose to do it. I was surprised how effective it was at lifting the typical morning groginess, waking me up and giving me instant energy. I now never miss a morning and have it as part of my morning routine. I know it sounds like a simple and even obvious habit but sometimes the most simple things in life are the most powerful.

Camila Zucarelli the thing is she already drink a lot of water Becouse of her alimentation, she love soup so much and more in winter, I'm from Chile, and she lived in Puerto Mont which is super close to Antártica, so I assume she drinked a lot more than 2 lt of water every day jaja, so don't worry I don't think you would have problems!

Thank you. I've always said that if your urine is clear, you're wasting water. Just drink when you're thirsty. Also, flow-state dehydration is a huge problem for me. I've gone basically entire days without eating or drinking anything just because I was too distracted to notice I was hungry or thirsty. I just wish I was as productive as you are during that time, but many times it's just getting sucked into a KZbin spiral.
