SO..some of you might remember I made a lil video where I changed the music during Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker's confrontation on crait a couple months back, and...well...let's just say I wasn't expecting what happened. My channel BLEW up in terms of subscribers and the video has been watched millions of times. A lot of people were happy with the edit, however I am not, not entirely, so, that's what this video is here! I added a few little scenes to make this edit feel a bit smoother so feel free to critique me on my choices! All opinions are welcome within reason!

Glad you enjoyed the edit! I tried to make it centered mainly around those three characters within this edit, the original edit I made felt odd in places, especially the shots of Rey holding the rocks up, so I decided to just have 'flashbacks' from Kylo's experiences with Rey.

I think the blue lightsaber works better. Because having this projection of Luke use the lightsaber that Rey handed him at the beginning of the movie only to throw it away is basically his way of telling the audience that he has finally accepted the call to action. There is also the fact that Kylo Ren feels disoriented looking at that lightsaber because he had just destroyed it a few moments before when he had his Force-tug-of-war with Rey.

This is so much better than the film. It not only makes the scene more emotional, more nostalgic and more poignant but it also makes the scene flow better, it fixes the pacing, it adds weight to the Rey/Kylo relationship built throughout the film and it somehow completely changes the context of the interaction making it much more heartfelt between an uncle and his nephew. It conveys everything the film failed to.

Definitely, in the film it kind of plays as "Look at how powerful Luke is, isn't that cool.", whereas with this track, the moment becomes more sombre, as if Luke had set this up as a test to see if Ben was still in there, and 1:38 is the moment Luke concludes only Kylo remains and stops wasting his time trying to talk.

I love this! I prefer the version we got in the context of the movie, but obviously this is a more stylized edit(and I got chills again, to be honest!). The only way I’d say this could be any more perfect is if the music ended as Luke collapsed, but that would obviously require some weird, unnatural editing as the music simply isn’t made to go that long. Really nice job!

Wow. I gotta say, that was a great choice. That track, along with additional scenes you cut in, really gave this scene a deeper operatic depth and weight. I love how there are flashbacks this time! When i watched the last Jedi, I was sad that I didn't hear 'I'm so sorry' play at this scene. Kylo Rens theme is still great nonetheless Edit #1: also would be a good callback to revenge of the sith. Edit #2: This is my favorite scene from TLJ so thank you for bringing it to its peak of perfection thus far!

To me, they seem more like a visual representation of Kylo’s mind as he is continually haunted by killing his father, losing to Rey in TFA, etc. It’s a great way to add more weight to Kylo’s decision-making and along with Luke’s dialogue, effectively built to Kylo finally breaking down and charging at Luke.

"I'm so sorry" from episode III's soundtrack, it plays in one of my favorite scenes when Obi-Wan tells Padmé that Anakin has turned to the dark side and she refuses to believe; the music perfectly portrays Obi-Wan's feelings in that moment. The prequels are masterpieces indeed.

I feel like the reused scene of Kylo killing Han was a little too obvious. I personally imagine Kylo on Krait looking down to his left side and seeing the pit that he sent his father down on Starkiller Base before looking back up at Luke and knowing that everything that Luke just told him, was correct. Just my opinion, fantastic work on both of these edits.

Problem with this music is that it suits a tragedy, but that’s not what this scene is (even if that’s what we’re supposed to get out of Ben and Luke’s relationship) though the new editing does make it suit the music a little more. I feel like viewers who prefer this are just being nostalgic for the prequels (which makes sense, prequels honestly had much stronger music then the sequel trilogy, which felt like its music was more incidental).

I think the original scene is better. This is one of the best scenes in any Star Wars movie. It was a great new force ability and fits within the established lore of the force in my opinion. A very graceful purposeful power. Also I want one person to tell me that they knew what was going on with Luke during that fight. They literally tricked the entire audience. We just watched anakins lightsaber be destroyed in the previous scene and most people I’ve seen and heard didn’t even realize/remember that when Luke shows up with it again. I love this scene so much

Louis Son Of Morgoth it is true to have some new themes, especially for characters. But in the final battles, none of them are memorable. Meanwhile with the prequels we have dual of the fates and battle of heroes as some of the top ones that most fans could remember in a heart beat.

While I respect your opinion, I firmly believe the original score for this scene is miles better and far more powerful. The "I'm So Sorry" piece was very appropriate for when Obi-Wan confronts Padme about Anakin's doings, but I just don't think it fits into this scene as it is meant to reinvigorate the rebellion and show that the Jedi are not dead. The initial piece was about triumph and rebirth rather than somberness. That's just my opinion though.

I don't think the sequels are complete utter trash like some people, and I do think that all of them are way better than the prequels. But seriously, something like this, or something even more would be so great. Just because the prequels were frowned upon doesn't mean it doesn't exist anymore. I'm pretty sure Disney only drew from the OT and only the OT (until the Be With Me scene), nothing from the PT. And some people love the prequels now more than ever.

Your video is great, but why does everyone want to change this scene ? Luke having the blue lightsaber was to piss Kylo off so he doesn't focus on the footprints and on the Resistance, as he said "this lightsaber is mine". I'm sorry but I think this song is overused. This is Anakin's theme and the music that played when Ben and Luke were together is their own. I get that the sequels may not have been good in your eyes, but the music was crafted for this scene. Not swapped.
