Some of the greatest artists have never been heard of. Some of the... "less great," get paid copious amounts of money, and are seen everywhere. Marketing is the biggest factor aside from having the skills/talent. When a great artist meets great marketing, it's magic. Great vid as always Adam.

One of your best videos by far! Loving the "toned-down" Adam and setting as well. What you say makes so much sense: you need to be everywhere in social media but targeting a specific audience that is actually there with a message that actually interests them. Each social media channel is different for a reason: there is different people looking for different things in each one. There are so many places to be at the same time when marketing that not having this clear from the start would make it practically impossible to know what to do where. Thanks Adam!

This was nicely put. Marketing is very powerful; as you said in order to market music or anything at all, we need to have that "wow" factor and be able to differentiate ourselves from others. I feel that may be the hardest part as well. The question I ask myself anytime I see well-known brand ads is how do they come up with unique strategies that differentiate them from the others? It is 100% a different experience for everyone, but finding the right marketing strategy for you to make you seem unique is probably one of the most difficult tasks of all. That is why some artists are bigger than others even if it's not as good because they knew how to market themselves effectively. This was a great video!

Hi adam. Well let me start by saying i spent an entire work day binge watching your videos🤣I love them, they’ve been super helpful. I recently watched the one about legally posting covers to KZbin. I have a follow up question. Do the same rules apply to posting a 1 minute video on my instagram feed, or even a full cover on IGTV? Also, if I want to use an instrumental from an acoustic or instrumental cover on KZbin, how do I go about avoiding copyright claims from the person that recorded the instrumental? I hope this makes sense!
@adamivy4 жыл бұрын
Anytime you are using someone else's without their permission you put yourself at risk for a copyright claim. That doesn't mean that it won't help get your name out there. It just means you can't monetize it.

@@louisemarshallmusic I'm a noob at it still and it's not viral or shattering numbers to be garnered, but basically it is optimizing keywords and tags on your videos, and reiterating similar phrases on your title and description, that help your KZbin video be discovered against others in the same category. This video gave me an idea that would be EXCELLENT for a video, do a case study on a "real" home-grown artist. Like Ed Sheeran Or Billie Eilish. And a complimenting reality to that I think would be dealing with the "getting lucky" aspect of this market, my sense has reduced it to something like: "everyone eventually *gets lucky* but the one's that skyrocket are the those that have done the work to prepare for it when it happens. So you can see it and capitalize it".
@ChadRockwell4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't really call Billie home-grown, she's a great artist but she had many advantages many artists don't get. Not that she didn't earn it or anything, I just think the way she was introduced as an artist is misleading because there was a lot going on behind the scenes.
@AN1Guitarman4 жыл бұрын
Chad Rockwell ok, I just don’t know the details to the story as I have never dug into them. Obviously, you have to be initially really good at what you do. I’ve released my own original album but just haven’t made the time to put into advertising even though I know it’s at least decent. (I spent all my time and energy learning how to mix and master myself, and just not on advertising) But of course I’d rather be doing it and getting the music out, so seeing some of these examples of extreme success might be helpful to help me aim my goals properly and I think a lot of people are in the same position.

Can anyone help me with finding hashtags which ordinary listeners use? So that i can target them directly
@danielrhoads86764 жыл бұрын
bro, my best advice.. i've grown at least 100 followers in 1 week of engagement. The best friendly advice I can share with you how to start finding hashtags that relate to "you" is start searching "genres" of the music you like on a personal level. Foe example, I love Drum and Bass music. It's my main passion. So I started searching all the musical genre names as hashtags that i personally want to be like and am inspired by. BOom! I'm a techno fan. i search hashtags of techno techhouse dnb dubstep edm. just be creative bro. But don't fake the hashtags. I'm not a hip hop or rap fan. So i never searched hiphop or rap cuz i am not a hiphop or rap producer. I love drum and bass. hope that helps.
@AaronAAMusic4 жыл бұрын
@@danielrhoads8676 Thank you for your advice! Being truthful to yourself is key as you said. The thing is that these genre hashtags are more filled with other artists who are trying to grow their following themselves. I guess i gotta dig deeper and find consumers.

Hey Adam! I watch almost all your vids, but I'm wondering how important you think actually making really good music is and additionally what its weight is compared to the weight of marketing and promotion. I try to be pretty objective and I know that my music is not good enough to compete within my genre/niche yet, so rather than marketing for an hour and a half a day, I am spending that time (plus much more) "sharpening my saw" (writing and practicing guitar). Some of my new material is starting to be really good (I think at least). I'd just like your thoughts about that. Like maybe sometimes you need to stop marketing and go actually get good at your skill. Perhaps that is a more genre specific thing? I really have no idea. Obviously I don't have a big fan base or anything and I'm certainly not an expert, so it would be cool for you to make a video on this very topic at some point.
@adamivy4 жыл бұрын
The quality of your music is super important. You can attract all the eyes and ears to you but without something good to hook your fans you won't grow. As I point out in this video, Marketing Is Not A Step. Marketing isn't something you start to do once you feel your music is good enough. It's a part of your plan all the time so that when you put out something great people can latch on to it.
@AnthonyMeyer4 жыл бұрын

@farshidabdi16744 жыл бұрын
@@adamivy Yes, that's a way of how to look at it. That's why I only "slightly" disagreed.
