I actually recently met the founder of El Sistema! He is one of the most inspiring people ever and it was an honour to know him!

I am the most senior member of the English division of the Sistema orchestra. I'm now 18 and am going on a trip around the UK with my violin in march. It will be the first time in 12 years away from my orchestra family and I must say I'm nervous, but excited. I want to show the younger division what is possible for them if they work hard and carry on.

Did your performances in spring 2021 work out well? Do you still perform as a violinist? If you do, is that with or without the orchestra? Good luck! 🎻

I swear I cried. I would love to work there as a musician. It is just unbelievable, beautiful, heart-touching. To help people around the world to start their lives again, to find a purpose, to heal. Let's built a better world together! You have my full support (from Greece).

The work of Abreu started many years before there was an American hating president. As a matter of fact Abrae is a doctor in Economics and his work has nothing to do with Politics. The work he does is actually a good way of integrating poor children into a higher educated society and preserving capitalism. Unfortunately there were not more people like him sooner in that country to prevent what happened there. Great work maestro and god bless your work and these Venezuelan Children.

Bravo Venezuela!! Unfortunately, in the USA, one of THE richest counties in the world, young musicians are left to fend for themselves (assuming their parents have some extra bucks in the bank for lessons, etc). Music in the schools (with programs being cut left and right) is just considered a hobby. In Venezuela it is a symbol of national pride and not only do the children receive free training, but the instruments are subsidized as well (probably borrowed between generations). Given that 70% of the children come from poor families there is no way they can afford 5 to 30 thousand dollar instruments such as bassoons, harps, Tubas, etc. It would be interesting to know how many of the kids continue once they return their instruments after finishing high school.

WOW! But the only thing I didnt like in this documentary was that played Beethoven's Eroica (3rd symphony) at the end played by the most famous "Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra" (I think so) while showing pictures of the children's orchestras as if they also were already playing in the quality the best Venezuelan orchestra does...

I would think that watching God's creation grow and listening to the music of some of God's most talented musicians would soften your heart and give you more love for your fellow man... may your heart soften so that you can measure a man's worth not by his race or country of birth, but by his words and deeds.

and what country are you from? those are words of someone from the USA, who thinks that you live in a wonder place. there is poverty in all countries, but the poverty in the USA is growing faster than any other nation. you forget that the poverty level of this nation was much worse, it has gotten better over the past 30 years, which speaks volumes. they have free healthcare, and the literacy rate has improved greatly. the difference between them and us, they have pride.
