Murali and Sanath Jayasuriya played 20 years together, but never batted with each other in any format of the game.

Makes sense. Murali comes last to bat. If Sanath is still playing by that time, the match would have already been won! :-)

I am from India. In 1996 WC, nobody thought that Sri Lanka will play well, let alone win. But the first game against India they chased a tough target easily. Everybody called it fluke and this and that. But they defeated india in the semi final, that famous match which became infamous because of crowd behavior. I saw that and cried because india lost, I was 9 years old. But as I grew up I realized that I was watching a great team, very unconventional in their batting approach and very strong with batting fielding and bowling. That was the beginning of Sanath Jayasuriya's amazing career. The SL team of the 90s was literally something else.

it's funny the way he says it at around the 1:05 mark. rough translation - "murali would come up to the (just-out) batsman and say 'you shouldn't have hit it like that. you didn't need to do that. you should have done it like this.'" love the idea of murali just giving unsolicited advice to great batsmen who've just been dismissed.

Sanstha Jayasuriya sir u r true legend of world cricket ,so as arawinda, Arjuna,Murali,vas etc.all team mates of 1996 wc team , because u all guies not only made SRILANKA 1996 WC CHAMPS, but also u all started era of CRUEL hitting in the first powerplay of any ODI😘(before that days every team was aiming at scoring only 20-30 runs in first 10 overs ,which made ODI -a game of lazy players😢) , This made cricket more and more competitive and interesting
@madhukark83273 жыл бұрын
Just remember our 1983 WC wining team and the blasters Krish Srikant, Sandeep Patil, Kirti Azad and of course Kapil Dev. Krish as opener always ready to attack every ball sharply . Though he threw his wkts so many times so obviously he should have been told by senior batters around or team management to slow down a bit. In Jayasuriya case captain Ranatunga specially allowed them to go for lofted shots with Kalu Vitharna . Here is the difference otherwise Krish would have changed ODI opening batting. One more factor Krish has to open with Sunny and Ravi like slow openers which naturally effects if you have to wait too much on the other end . Hitting happens best in rhythm .

Spot on. Aiyyo, such potential of this beautiful paradise isle. With the likes of Sanath, Murali, Pallewatte. Gota, Professor Razeen Salley, George Cooke, Jayawardene, Dilshan, etc, they could build on the excellent foundations people like DS left us and make us even better than Singapore within no more than 1 decade. The only issues we have are corruption, no rule of law and Indian bootlicking/subservience (Indo Lanka Accord and nonsensical Indian systems of governance need to be abrogated as they are all illegal and nonsensical). So much potential here if we have the rule of law.

Sinhalese language is more older than sanskrit. Do not compare sanskrit to South Indian language. Sinhalese to tamil to malayalam.
@RN-qg8vs3 жыл бұрын
Well agree and don't agree, because the oldest part of Sinhalese which derived from 'Elu or Hela' don't use in day to day language in present. We Sinhalese have zero knowledge on ' Sudda Sinhala means Pure Sinhala'

@stealthworx4371 Жыл бұрын
Sinhalese has absolutely no similarities to Tamil other than LOAN WORDS. Sinhalese descends directly from Maghadi Prakrit with a written lineage that stretches back well over 2200 years. This is all documented history and well known in linguistic studies.
